I think you guys in the midwest need to stop visiting certain websites....  ;)

I know it gets cold, but try a mahjong site instead.....

Norton personal is horrible. Their corporate version is awesome. One day they'll realize that and make some changes....

A few years ago I was using AVG and thought all was well until I got a virus and could not get rid of it. A neighbor got me to try Vipre AV -- downloaded the free trial, ran scans for an entire day (it seemed like) Vipre found and removed all of the bad stuff. I then purchase the Vipre Premium package to cover all of my machines, the program has been working flawlessly for 2 years, no problems with 2 desktops, a laptop and a tablet.

Jeff.  Did you remember to turn off your "restore" program before running the virus scan?  These little buggers hide in the mirror image and just reload when you reboot.  Always back up your data files, turn off restore, reboot in safe mode, then run all your programs.  Once you are done with the scans, defrag, then reboot and turn your restore back on.

As a reminder to all, before you run all your AV and malware scans, remember to go through and empty your temp folders (Start > Run>  %temp%     select all, delete)  and all your browser caches.  No sense in scanning files you don't need and taking up all the time.

Steve,
Yes, I did. I actually had difficulty getting 'into' safe mode, but I did get there. I intend to play around with my old laptop when I have spare time. If and when I get it up and running properly, I may just use it for a backup, or some other 'dedicated' purpose. If I can't get it straightened out, I'm sure it will make a great 'target'.
