I live out in the sticks, so I will travel anywhere within an hours drive. Of course in the sticks you can probab ly get 70 miles in an hour.

I did a Condominium inspection for one of our BNI members who referred me, yesterday.
It was 65 miles from my home, one way.
Easy ride, and one of the nicest days here in Colorado, nice weather, and my MS Streets and Trips
mapping software told me it was about $15.00 travel cost, so I didn't think that was too far off
the mark for going so far. (Not quite a half tank, up and back.)

Besides, I'm continuing to build good will in this group, and the condo purchasers were very happy
I came so far for them.

Paying it forward...

$15 travel cost?  How much are you figuring travel cost is?  Its way more than $0.12 per mile, I'll tell ya that much!  Whether you charge for it or not, you should figure it on a more realistic $ amount.

Ask yourself how much other companies pay for travel expenses in your area and figure your cost from that.  It will be on the high side, but at least you know your not losing money with that value.

I figure all my mileage at $1 per mile one way.  That comes out to $0.50 per mile round trip.  You include fuel and maintenance at that price.  Plus I drive a big ol deisel truck so my costs are a little higher than a gasoline engine would be.
