TOPIC: Dry Spell?

Re: Dry Spell? 14 years 8 months ago #20251

Hey John;

When did you become active with the realtor gig?  I hadn't noticed the Keller Williams line in your signature before.  Career change?

Best of luck with both!

Just got my license last week.  I'm working both sides trying to learn as much as I can.  Hope the pay doesn't hurt either!!!  ;)

I was  just posing the other side of the coin John. Why not just field as many calls as you can and let the law of averages work out. You never know, you may be eliminating some good clients with that strategy. But, if you have enough work, then it must be working for you.

To be honest, if one wants the MOST phone calls, one must suck up to the Realtors.  That's where all the business is at!!!  If you can get on the coveted "list" that is.  I know many people hate the idea of this, but they are the central hub to real estate.  I personally don't solicit to them any more.  Cost to damn much.  lol  Maybe I'll get on their "list" now that I am one.  ;D

I think it happens with everyone at some point of time. Do not worry too much. And I think your procedure is quite a good one and there is no fault in it. Try to remain positive.    :)

Hello All,

I have a question or two for the experts here and hope I can learn a few things.
My company is relatively new at 6 to 8 weeks. I have about 25 years of custom home building and inspection experience , but new as in "new business of my own". I am embarking on the marketing side of things and starting to get a bit frustrated and was hoping everyone might be able to shed some light on how you went about getting YOUR phone to ring.

I am calling Realtors - very few return calls
I am E mailing Realtors with brief intro and "Special Offer" to get them interested in calling back, very little response.
I am doing a mass E mail campaign- so far no response
I am a member of 2 Real Estate associations and we have networking meetings on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday for either breakfast or lunch- very little response.
I have met with about 25 agents for lunch , one on one, and this has been very positive as all have been very impressed with experience and presentation, however the phone still doesn't ring.
I am priced very well compared to the competition, in fact all the agents who I have actually met with have all said my prices are very good.

I realize this takes time but I have not been able to get enough of a response to be able to decide which direction I need to adjust or pursue harder.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Jerry, you have to remember there are a lot of other inspectors out there doing the same thing. At the start you have to try and pull in as many clients directly rather than going through agents unless you have previous connections. That's why your website is so important. While you're working on getting it to page one naturally you should concentrate on Google Ads. If you participate in local groups like Church or the rotary club, let yourself be known there. Start joining some of the clubs like BNI to make more connections. And most of all just keep going, it takes time.

My best source for inspection is my website (thanks to Dom).  You may try talking with investors also.
