TOPIC: Cut and paste issues

Cut and paste issues 14 years 3 months ago #26430

Ok, I am not having any luck with cutting and paste verbiage into my template defect page. I like some verbiage from others reports and I would like to use them as written with out having to type them in by hand. Does anyone have any idea how I can do this? Thanks for your help, and may you have many happy inspections.

Someone just showed me this the other day. Go to the narratives on the template you want to copy and hit Ctrl A. Then open your template to the appropriate section and hit Ctrl V. Should work just fine for you :)

Troy,
Thanks for the tip. I am trying to pull information from other sources. I am wanting to add defect narratives, invoices, contracts, etc. Thanks again and I will try out what you suggested.

If you're copying into Edit Documents from Word or a Web Page you'll need to strealize the other source by copying into notepad first (Start-Program-Accessories-Notepad).

If you're copying narratives you can do what Troy said. You ca even open two copies of HIP at once with different templates and copy between the two. Just make sure to click inside the destination box before hitting paste.

If you're copying narratives from a non HIP source click on the Add Comment button the hit CTRV-V to paste.

I am trying to copy from outside source (internet or some of my earlier reports before I got HIP) with no luck. If I copy into notepad none of the words show up highlighted, or in the order I copied from. I would just type the information into my edit documents, or into the report itself but I can't figure how to highlight the words I want to. Or to make the letters larger for headings.
