TOPIC: Syncing reports between computers

Re: Syncing reports between computers 14 years 4 months ago #25646

It may sound odd to complain about Horizons syncing, and then ask for syncing with HIP, so let me clarify.  The syncing issue I had with Horizon was that it required syncing from my PDA through my PC, ( that alone was problematic, not Horizon fault ), from the PC to their web server (which was problematic at times), and then back down to my PC.  Also, you had to initiate inspections on the web and then sync them to the field device which complicated spontaneous inspections.

What I'd like with HIP is an automatic sync, PC to tablet via USB or Bluetooth to keep templates and reports.

If I was not using such a small tablet (2go PC), maybe I would just leave everything on the reporting device and not be asking.

So you would like to sync program to program and not have any need to do this after the fact, which sounds like you mean having the laptop on a kitchen counter and whatever you enter into the C go would auto load into the laptop.
Is that what you mean?

I doubt that is possible but simply popping in a thumb drive and loading it ,then transferring the thumb drive to another PC is pretty fast even for a caveman like me.

Have you ever tried that method ?as the zip or thumb drives are givin out like free candy as promotional items now in days.

I would like my tablet to sync to my PC at the office so I can finish reports on the PC.

I would like to know that I always have the latest template versions and copies of all completed reports on both my PC at the office and the tablet in the field so they are available to me wherever I am.

Otherwise, it appears that I would have to always be shuffling info back and forth manually, hoping I remember.

Admittedly, I have not started using the inspection software yet as I have a few left with Horizon.

I guess I'll just wait and see how it goes.  I'm guessing that in the beginning I'll be tweaking the template often.

I guess this means you can not migrate your comments from Horizon?

When you say a few left ,are you on a trial there also.

If so ,yes you need to build a library of comments.

Just concentrate on the material comments first ,as those are easy to put in ,while at the same time saving you just that.

You buy inspections with Horizon in blocks of 20 and I have 8 left to use.
