Let me tell everyone something and this is the truth.  I was an adjuster in NJ for 18 years from Property, PIP, Large Property and personal injury.  Involved in WTC in 1993, TWA 800 and just about every major catastrophe from man made to natural.  It is not a bad idea to have your license, but let me explain that should it be because of a hurricane or storm or something, you will be dealing with people that have nothing left or someone died or was injured on the site you are at.

It takes a very strong individual to be a property adjuster.  Not that i am trying to scare you away, but just think long and hard about it before you invest a large amount of time to get your license.  Those tests will make the  NHIE look like childs play.

That's a great point.  I'm glad you mentioned that.  1 karma for you!!!  I don't think I would have a problem with stuff like that.  But there are those that would.  And I'm glad you brought that side of things up for everyone to consider.

Watch how you approach potential clients. My Father-in-laws business caught on fire a few days ago from a garage two doors down. He lost the whole back half of his wearhouse to the fire, the front office and the apartments above were destroyed by the water and smoke, luckly no one was hurt and he was able to save his computers... you can actually see the fire on www.wfmz.com , it's the local news here in Hamburg, PA... any way eight insurence adjusters in one day were tossing business cards and empty promisses at my Father-in-law every one ended up in the trash, one in particular really set him off when they showed up at his mom's (my Grandmother-in-law) house, she's 88 by the way, and tried to talk her into letting him become the primary on the case. I've been a part of the family for a little over ten years and that was the first time I've ever seen him pop his top! Just don't be like that guy and I think you'll do fine.

Hmmm man, that's crazy stuff.  I would probably work for someone in the beginning.  Then get a website for more business.

Again, let me chime in on this.  Public adjusting is different than working as an independent adjuster for insurance companies.  Personally, public adjusters are like attorney who are ambulance chasers.  This is not piss anyone off, but they go after the big accidents because they make large % off of the settlement if they can get one.  Insurance company adjusters are very well trained and do not play well with public adjusters.

Be careful for what you wish for because it can get real ugly real fast.....
