Re: 4 point template? 13 years 6 months ago #36188

Dom,
If we download the new version what happens to the old, does it just get overwritten an do we need to reinstall the license?

Hey Larry,

When you install the update, you shouldn't need to change anything. Run the update, it replaces just the programs and adds the new templates. Your existing data and license file remain intact.

If you had previously downloaded the 4 point template listed above, and then made modifications to the template, you will want to make a backup of your template changes before installing the update. To do this, open your 4 point template, then click Save Template. Save the template with a different file name and template name. This will keep your changes from being overwritten when the update is applied.

Other than this specific example, all your existing data will remain in place.

Actually an update will never overwrite an existing file name. So even if Larry had downloaded the 4 point previously there's no need to back it up as the update will not overwrite it. Obviously this situation is something that would rarely occur but I made sure that a program update can never affect an existing template.

Hi Clay,

You need to open Home Inspector Pro and then click Open Template to select the file. If you're still having problems save it to your desktop first, then copy it to the Data folder.
