Great Dom, then you can tell if I am right or not!!

If you break down the shape you have two squares and one right triangle.  The squares give you two sides to the triangle so all you have to do is find the hypotenuse.

Finding the hypotenuse will give you answer #2.

Then all you need to do is figure up the area and then you have question #1.


Squares: 20 on all sides

Triangle: leg A & B are 20, hypotenuse is 28.28 (use the pythagorean theorem for this)

Diameter: 6*20+28.28=148.28



Area square #1: 20*20=400
      square $2: 20*20=400
      triangle: 0.5*20*20=200  (the 0.5 is part of the formula that should be a known)



Q1: A=1000
Q2:148.28'

Ian, there's 2 squares + a right triangle making up the image. The triangle has 2 sides of 20 and hypotenuse of 28.8.
