TOPIC: HIP Software ?

HIP Software ? 13 years 5 months ago #37149

Hey Dominic,
I am looking into getting your software. I run a MAC split with bootcamp and Windows XP on one side. I am curious if you think I should run the software on the Windows side since I will likely be using a 2go Tablet as well. That leads me to my second question. Can I load the software on both units or would there be an additional charge to have it on my laptop and tablet (Do we get and installation disk or is it all off the net). I would like to have a backup system in case the tablet freaks out during an inspection, at least I could do the inspection. If there is a charge for being on two computers I think I will be loading just onto the Tablet when I get it. I want to download the trial first and take a look at the templates and how they modify. If I load the trial software onto my Windows side and decide to buy it, can I then load the software I get onto the tablet. Also, I am looking to have the XP loaded on the tablet, will this slow it down? I am going to contact Matt as well! Thanks

Hey Rob,

No need to run boot camp, the software runs naively on the Mac! You can even start an inspection on your Windows tablet and finish it on your Mac if you want.

Hey Dominic,
I have the demo software on my MAC. I am going to be getting the CTL2go tablet like you suggested! I have made some changes to the template playing around with the Demo (Love the software). My question is: if I make changes to the template now with the Demo in preparation to hit the ground running with the new software, will I be able to somehow move that template to the software when I actually purchase it and then can I get that template onto my Ctl2go when I buy that. Still playing with the software, but definitely going to buy, Just thinking about waiting on the Ctl2go and software until the beginning of next year for tax write off next year!, although the software may come sooner with the lower price right now?

You won't lose anything (we just send you a new license file).

You can move anything to the new computer.

Yes, the $150 off is good through Christmas.

Glad you like the program :)

Hi Dominic,
Is there a way to set up HIP to automatically "save" every few minutes without the save window popping up??
Last week I knocked the battery loose on my laptop when I was almost completed with the report and you guessed it, I had to start all over again.

Thanks,  Tom

Hi Tom,

We had that feature a long time ago and actually removed it. There's been some discussion of re-adding it with options to turn it off. The two main problems were:

1. Saving takes a few seconds and the program has to stop accepting input during that time. Guys often go so fast through the program that they would miss that the program was saving and be tapping in new items (that weren't registering). This ended up causing frustration.

2. Sometimes guys are doing re-inspections or reusing a previous inspection and don't want information updated under the same name. If they forget to hit Save As when logging in they'd save over the previous info.

The best advice is just to make sure you hit Save every 10-15 minutes. Like I mentioned, this is something we're looking at re-implementing, we just need to find a way that makes everyone happy.
