TOPIC: Idea for mobile

Idea for mobile 10 years 2 weeks ago #57613

I like having things open automatically and I thought of a place in the mobile version where you could eliminate the same number of button taps as you have photos.

The change is simply automatically opening the list of preloaded captions whenever someone clicks on a photo to edit the caption. If you don't need a preloaded caption you simply tap the text box to type your own. This doesn't add any additional taps because you would have had to open the text box either way to write a custom caption.

Good idea, what if you take it one stage further and get the Caption list to open immediately after you take the picture as in my case (don't know about other inspectors) I mostly add captions to all photos. If you don't add a caption you click on return so you are no worst off in terms of clicks.

Also, when you take a Picture you have the option to Discard or Save the photo. Why not skip this clicking process (as if you automatically clicked on Save) and go to the next screen with the original large picture and the Delete icon to the right. If you like the picture you go onto Captions and if the picture is not great you can click on Delete.

The only problem with those two ideas is that they don't give some of the users the option of avoiding clicks or taps.

For example, in your first idea if the user doesn't use captions at all for any of his photos, he is forced to click out of the caption section before he can go back to taking another photo or continuing the report.

In your second idea, you remove the ability to review the photo after taking it. The only way to review the photo would be to click back out of the section and then click into the summary feature.

Some of those additional ideas could work if the user has the option of selecting a "click reduction feature" which could incorporate some of the skipping of clicks/taps that you were talking about. I like those ideas, but incorporating them has to be universally helpful to the different ways users will use the app.

You guys are the best! Keep the discussion going. This is exactly what we have to go through to implement changes. Hash it all out, figure out the pro's/con's, time saving, etc.

New template I am working on is a bastard hybrid off room by room and system by system.
Going room by room with every shot in the room to stay in general material comments but caption will be a systems tab.

Any systems tab that includes a defect will be earmarked for move to my standard sections tab .

Now changing subjects I think the best way to handle slotting is not in the software right now.

It would mean taking all pictures in misc folder and then using caption drop down to slot it.
It could even be a #tag which in my fantasy would allow double slotting and placement.
