TOPIC: Data Collection Template

Re: Data Collection Template 10 years 9 months ago #54356

Just repeating from above after reading the comments.
I am guessing this is about the mobile version of HIP ?

As far as the jumping around goes why not have a auto back (return) button that snaps you back to "main categories"

The search as you type feature is amazing for finding comments so why not refine it.

((((First letter typed hits section title))))
((((Second letter typed narrows to sub categories))))

This would be similar in nature to the Picture dropdown typing short cuts....get it ?

The picture drop short cuts are great though you still need to use the mouse every new frame however ,so that is where the
auto snapback would come in.

Type and it narrows to interior and type that narrows it to {smoke detectors}  :)

Result is you type 2 letters to get anywhere in the report.

This is about either version. Most people bundle the recommendation with the narrative. Even if you don't your example still has the same narrative (defect) repeated multiple times in a row.

Exactly why I work off photos to avoid that Dom however the guys are talking about
the extra time it takes to go from Interior to Plumbing which has nothing to do with
multiple smoke detectors not functioning which is a red herring here from what I can tell.

Dom I understand you say most guys use recommendations bundled into the issues ?
That seems like a bad idea to me so perhaps you should not assume this to be the case as it
most certainly not something I would do.

My sections have canned recommendations and they are clicked separately as they should be.
Never even check them anyway (smoke detectors) as that is useless unless using a smoke pen to trip them and too much liability.

Lets be a little more realistic and use bad windows for instance.
I do not go room by room in the report because that is (terrible)and (redundant) by nature however of course we all go from one room to the next.

The onsite collection method using text comments as notes would be easier if they could jump from one section to another faster which is why I suggested the above.
You did not comment on my actual suggestion.

You could also have windows that didn't open in multiple rooms which would cause the same duplication issue.

l've looked over tens of thousands of HIP reports over the years. I can safety say that MOST (not all) inspects keep their recommendations with the narratives. The recommendation for a leaking toilet never changes right? So this saves extra clicks.

I'm not sure what you're saying with the filter.

Dom I must do it different from the masses which is fine with me.
I have canned recommendations but click them separately because narritive for a leaking toilet does in fact change when using a narrative style.

Sometimes the toilet is slightly loose but only needs to be monitored.
Sometimes it is loose and causing damage below.
I describe what I see and sometimes that may involve using a moisture meter to show the toilet is leaking as well.
There are always variations of everything .

You don't need to manually type those comments, you just need to add both to your list of existing narratives so you never need to type them again!
