Looks to me that the melted spot is too high to have been caused by the sun shining through the glass of the light.  If it was from the sun, why only on the corner trim and not on the panel?

It looks like something blew out from behind the siding?  Is the siding broken behind the J-trim?  That is a tough one...

Yup, that looks like flame damage more than anything electrical. Some more detailed pictures would help answer the question more. Though with how much of the area is burned, I'm surprised there isn't more soot embedded in the plastic and traipsing up above the burn area. Dominic may be on to something with the potential young "wayward" boys in the house.
