Kyu,

I'd have to see more of the attic to give you an opinion. Looks like 2x6's were added for some sort of support. Where do they connect to at left and right? Were walls added/changed/removed in the interior space below? Was the ceilng sagging? Did they hang something heavy from the ceiling below?
