TOPIC: Mositure Meters

Mositure Meters 15 years 3 weeks ago #10574

I use a Tramex Moisture Encounter Plus.  It's been an excellent instrument.  I've recently dropped it a couple times and was wondering everyone's thoughts about recalibration?  Even without physical damage, do any of you have your meters serviced and or recalibrated as normal maintenance of the instrument?

Will

I attached this PDF of the meter you described.

tramexltd.com/pdf/LEAFLET%20-%20MEP.pdf

I would call the number or email and ask the manufacturer if there machine requires calibration.

I use a survey master protometer and have never had it calibrated or serviced. I change the pins occasionally. Maybe I should follow my advice and call them to see if they suggest calibration.

Good advice David;

I tore the rubber pads off it 2 years ago and sent it to Colorado for repair.  No charge and I had it back in a week.  I'll give them a shout about the need for calibration.

Thanks,

Yup! It was about six months old and I guess the rubber contact pads aren't supposed to wear out that quickly.

Here's a better one - I've got some 20 year old rechargeable mag-lites that are under life time warranty.  They've been in almost every year for tune-ups, with the exception of dead batteries and bulbs, everything else is pretty much covered free of charge.  Since there factory and service center is located in Ontario, I just wait for an inspection in that area and stop by.  They actually have a walk-in center and will repair the units while you wait.

Mag-lite Rocks!
