TOPIC: Inspection Question On New House

Re: Inspection Question On New House 15 years 2 months ago #6630

Is it me or is there no drip edge either, it looks like the shingles rest ontop of the fascia trim.

Personally i've never done a shingle roof and not used drip edge.

No there arnt any drip edges.  That's not too uncommon around here.  I'm looking at this roof job as a bar bones no extras roof job.  Which is also rare to see around here.

As for gutters, they had gutters!  They had a 3' section over the door that dumped the water right on the walkways next to the house.  And they had an open section over the AC unit.  lol

Buyers are getting gutters installed.

Here is a pic of the section over the AC unit.  I called it out for not having downspouts and end caps.  lol

That is a crap version of the Yankee gutters they put on old slate roofs over front porch walk ways - those were the V-shaped, angled off to each side so water doesn't cascade down as you approach the door.

The county lets them get away with that?!  Those gutters will not last in that fashion...  That must be one proud builder!

LOL I laughed when I saw it!!!  I told the buyer that they need to take care of it or they will have HUGE holes drilled into the ground.

A blank face GFCI is used for the same purposes as a GFCI breaker would. Things like Whirlpools, swimming pool motors or any other dedicated circuit can have a blank face GFCI outlet installed in midstream for the convienience of not having to run to the panel to reset every time it trips. Did I mention they are 1/3 the cost of a GFCI breaker.
