TOPIC: Pricing

Pricing 15 years 4 months ago #4634

Hey guys,

I am roaming through the message boards for the first time and have looked at some of the pricing of other inspectors.  This is not to inflate Dominic's head, however, with the reports, I have increased my minimum price to $375.00.  All of the agents that I have worked with for the past year recommended that I do as such.  Here in Houston, there is a MASSIVE number of home inspectors and I have performed nearly 400 this year, which is my first year as a home inspector.  I tell everone that my prices are higher due to the details and simplicity of the reports.

Just wondering.

Thanks Cody, I'll try not to make my head too big ;) I think part of it is different markets. I've talked to some guys who haven't had a PHONE CALL in weeks. Not that it's their issue, others in the same states say the same thing. Local to me in So. Cal, I talked to a guy yesterday who booked 8 inspections yesterday. So things here are booming. You're also in an area will millions of people, though there's tons of inspectors too, you just beat them out :D

Yeah, I understand that there are territorial issues.  The Houston market had stayed strong, but, it is slowing down substantially.  I still have some agents calling, though. I have actually booked several large commercial inspections lately and that seems to be where the real money is.  Well, best of luck to everyone and I hope we all make it through this tough market.

By the way Dominic, I will be keeping the website.  Thanks for all of the hard work and support.

Sure thing :) I'm sure once some other guys get in a bit later they'll start posting. Traffic picks up a lot more at night.

I voted the first one to be contrarian - everyone voted for the second one (one vote that is...).

How do you define a low price?  There are 25 home inspection companies within about 15 miles of my house.  I base my inspection fee on the price of the house - $1/thousand in value.  Low fee is $250 for a condo, max is $500 for a house.  Is that low or high?
