TOPIC: Got my FLIR B-Cam

Got my FLIR B-Cam 15 years 4 months ago #3888

Finally made the jump to thermal, and boy am I loving it. Today I found a leaking skylight, that I had just given the "visual once over", before deciding to scan them. It popped right out at me, a kidney shaped dark spot in the ceiling.
Yesterday, I did a spot inspection from someone claiming they were loosing heat. After crawling in the crawl space, I found a hole in the ductwork large enough to fit Tom cruise in. How did I survive without it?

Hey Mike,

Great pics! Do me a favor. When you have a minute, send me a few shots. I'm collecting pics to see if I can extra some of the data some of the camera's embed into the photos for use within HIP.

Mike - it's a whole new world isn't it!  Great job.  Your clients and client realtors will appreciate the additional level of service.  It will get you work and pay for itself.

It's like that old saying:  Once you go IR Thermal Imaging, you don't go back...  or something like that.  :-X

That hole in the duct must not have been very big...

Actually, after digging further, I determined that the rip was over 1 foot long. Speaking with the homeowner, he said 2 years ago last January, he had something worked on in his crawlspace. He thinks they opened the ductwork for heat. It was repaired horribly with duct tape.

Mike - I was joking.  You said Tom Cruise could have crawled through the hole.  To that, I said it must not be very big...  yuk, yuk.  Cruise in lifts is about 5'4".

As to the duct tape, it works great on car rust, hardwood floor repair and basket ball net re-weaving, but not very well on ducts.*

* For all you literals out there (meaning you take everything literally...) - THAT was a joke too.  I'm a bit dry.
