TOPIC: Photos/Description/Caption

Photos/Description/Caption 15 years 2 weeks ago #10638

It seems I am spending way to much time on my reports and one reason is with the photos.

Now the batch add is a great feature.

I want to ask other guys how the set up there photos. Do you have the photo text say the same exact text as the damage panel?

Lets just say you have a photo of a leaking kitchen faucet. So we insert into are kitchen or plumbing page. We describe that the kitchen faucet is leaking and needs to be repaired or repla ced. Now would your photo text say the same exact words?

And what is the benefit of selecting the caption feature?

Thanks just trying to speed the process up. Seems lately I am going thru 100 photos. Makes for a long day.

Hi David,

I see some people who don't have any captions, and some guys who go all out. The selecting a caption feature was a request from quite a few inspectors who wanted to use an existing comment as a caption. We will be taking this one step further and adding in the the option of removing the damage panel comment if you use it as a caption.

I use the caption feature if its something I wouldn't normally put in my damage captions.

Like if I'm writing them a note about that particular pic.

I never use the comment drop down as it is to redundant.
Ok lets say I have tagged several pictures under my exterior wall surface tab because I found several issues.
What client see would be something in the report like

Loose mortar at west end

Spalling at NE side

Lintels above kitchen window need painting to prevent rust.

Now above those comments are several pictures so rather than just having carbon copies of comments below them I may Just type NE.....West end.....and kitchen lintel as abbreviated directional comments.

i use the drop down from the defect section, but if I have two or three extra shots of the same thing or different angles and want to focus on something then I make the notes in the drop down for this. If I amd just showing a section then use the caption select and heading only are used to keep picks in line, really depends on what I need the client to know and their level of knowledge, some clients need all the help they can get some need a slight amount, this is where you tailor your report for the client
