TOPIC: Disappearing Reports

Somehow the whole report disappears.....the pdf remains. But I can no longer
go back and add to the report. It may something Im doing in saving the inspection
and opening the inspection......the client name of the report remains but all the data
is gone...

Hey David,

What version of the program are you running (look under About-About)?
Did this happen more than once? How much ram does the machine have?

Test adding a few items and hit save, close the program, open it and click open inspection and see if the data is there.

I've seen this happen a few times, a few times it's been low ram with a ton of pictures, another
time the inspector had 2 copies of the program open (which won't cause conflicts in the latest update) and the other times it's been the inspector was opening the template as well as open the inpection which is the same as starting a new job.

Since you're running an older version, I'm guessing you probably opened the program twice. Upgrade to 2.6.6.8 which was emailed last week. You can open as many copies at a time as you want.

I have the newer version installed and the 2nd report I sent with it was corrupt.

I see I am not the only one that has this problem. Nothing like doing a 3 hour inspection a 2 hour report then the report data disappearing.

Can we fix this bug. It is not just me like you have always thought.
I should not have to save the program 20 times to be sure to have my data.

I could not send today's report through the upload service.

Yeah I just restarted the upload service as Dan Smart notified me via email. There were over 1000 reports uploaded yesterday and I didn't restart the service last night like I should have (didn't expect it to be that busy in just one day and the reporting program has to be restarted or it runs out of memory around that point).

Dave Macy, there's a few reasons that causes the blank report that we've tracked down. You're the only person I've seen that's had the problem when uploading the report and I'm convinced it's your wireless connection since you say it takes several minutes to upload the report on one computer and seconds on your others. I'm trying to replicate your problem during uploads but can't. If anyone else has had a problem during uploads, please let me know so I can try to find something in common. Otherwise I'll be trying to upload and yank the internet connection today and see if I can replicate what you've experienced. I definitely don't want the program files becoming corrupt even if the connection is bad (or it could be something else that we haven't figured out). Only other possibility is that machine doesn't have enough ram to handle the number of photos you're importing. I've seen the issue when guys upload a few hundred photos and have other programs open and only 1 gig or less of ram.

I talked to David Nasser via email. He's been using the program a long time and never had the issue until recently when he had it twice in a row and was using version 2.6.6.5. I believe his issue was having the program open twice or it not shutting down properly which happened on the Windows XP Tablet edition from time to time (error in Microsofts end). 2.6.6.8 which was sent out last week should fix both of those problems.

Dave Macy, I've been trying to replicate this all morning and still not having any luck. I just imported almost 1000, 8 megapixel photos (1.5 megs each in file size) and everything looks ok. Is the laptop that you were working on running 2.6.6.8, I know you have a few machines going there. You can check under About->About.
