TOPIC: Apache Server Software

Apache Server Software 15 years 5 months ago #3903

Dom - what do you know about the Apache Software Foundation?  They have free downloads ostensibly to help sync with http servers and java script stuff.  Valuable?  Important?  Shoulda-oughta-do-a?

Nothing you need to worry about. Apache is what our servers run your sites on. In fact I think the stat is around 70% of the servers on the web use apache (free) versus microsoft servers ($$ and not as good).

"""Personally, I'd uninstall Norton and install AVG and leave the Microsoft Firewall on. Norton just slows down your computer with all the bloat it contains. The corporate version of Norton is excellent, it's their home version that stinks. I really haven't tried Panda to be honest but I've heard good things too, but AVG is free and I know it's good, so why buy Panda."""

I agree with you Dominic. When I was using Microsoft, I had lots of Dragging issues with Norton, then went to AVG and used it for a couple of years and never had a problem with it. As far as keeping your PC fairly protected, it seems to work well. Windows on the other hand will never be void of problems(in my opinion). I have switched to a MAC a while back and have discovered what a joy it is to actually use a computer without constantly fixing problems.

Hey Les - thanks for the input.  I have looked into Macs and they are terrific.  The problem in that so many programs don't have offer Mac-compatible software.  I have an investment software and one for Forex and neither have Mac stuff.  It is a bummer.  One of my kids has a Mac and I have played on it and it is wonderful.

You need to get over to the SEO linking thread and add your stuff there.  If you are interested in linking your site with others on this Message Board, that is the place to be.

My info is below if you would like to add me.  Let me know if you have and I will link back!  Thanks for the input!

Hi Jay, I am still working on a new web site. When I get it fully operable I will definitely do that. Yes I know that there are alot of programs that are not yet compatible with Mac, hopefully this will improve.

Thanks Les!  Unfortunately so many programs are only Microsoft compatible and so for now Mr. Gates is the man...

I look forward to your site!  Lemmino when it's available!
