The State of Ohio requires a license for WDI and radon.

No license yet for home inspections but I see it happening in the next few years.

New Jersey has one of the most stringent HI licensing programs in the country. Equal to or second to Texas.

From what I hear, NJ comes in 4th or 5th. Don't forget Texas includes their mandatory report format and things like having to life roof tiles to see if they're attached!

Around me, California-No, Oregon-Yes, Washington-Yes, Arizona-Yes.

Below are some links to websites that have lists of all th states and links to their licensing programs.  Last time I heard a number, I believe it was 33 states have home inspector licensing.

www.homeinspectionexam.org/state_regulations.php
www.independentinspectors.org/#licensing2

There is now a federal program regarding Lead testing.  States can implement their own program as long as it is as stringent as the Fed program.  Jarrod, contact Dept of Health and Human Resources for NC licensing requirements.  $700 a year license fee for lead testing in NC.  Basically if the house was built before 1978, it has lead paint.  No need to test unless home is newer.
