The URL is the address to your page. For example, http://www.homeinspectorpro.com/software-tutorials/home-inspector-pro/ is a url. It's very important to make sure your URL includes your keyword phrases you're optimizing your site for. For more information on why and good naming practices, look at the article in the SEO board here.

The goal here is to change your page name to something like http://www.homeinspectorpro.com/Home-Inspection-Client-Testimonials.html

Notice that I got Home Inspection into my URL. Very important. Do this to EVERY PAGE on your website. Get in city names, home inspector, home inspection, etc. Now, here's how you can do this on our web hosting system.

  • Make sure you are logged into you website
  • Go to the page you want to change the name of
  • Click th Edit button up top as if you were changing it's page content
  • Scroll down to the section called:URL path settings
  • Type the URL you want for that page, so for the example I listed below I'd type in: Home-Inspection-Client-Testimonials.html . Note that I'm not typing in the entire address, just the address for this page. It's very important that you use a hyphen "-" inbetween the words so that the search engines can pick them up easier
  • Scroll down and click Submit, you're done!

Because I don't like the look of the URLs for links, I changed all of them.  For instance: http://www.halcyonhomeinspection.com/arizona-professional-home-inspection.html

Since almost all of the company names include Home Inspection, will that help the SEO as well?

Yes it will, for both your and the person you're linking too. In fact a few guys messaged me to say that they were typing in their cities and others guys sites were from other states were coming up above them because their link pages were returning high results! This is actually really good as it means the pages are getting high rankings and Google sees them as important pages.

It makes a huge difference. Just make sure to read the article I wrote on how to name your pages. There's a link off the main page of this site on the left.

Ya I've read it.  Every now and again I try to go back and see what I could do better.  Re-read your articles and so forth.
