Dom - the URL you see above with the node/133 is what is set up by the computer. Are you suggesting that I go into each of my HI links and get into the URL Path Setting at the bottom and physically install what you have above for each - http://jaymarinspect.com/Smith-Home-Inspection-Company.html?Does it benefit me more, both more, or do they also have to do the same thing on each of the other ends? If it benefits me, I can do it at my leisure - but if I have to get back to each home inspector I have now and ask them to do the same thing on their end, that is a lot of work, a lot of back and forth and a lot of "if he doesn't change it soon I am dropping him from my links list..." It's nice when it benefits both, but you can see all over this thread that guys go back a few times to get people even to add the link.

Hey Jay just do a little at a time. I wouldn't bother about trying to get back to anyone. This is just another nook and cranny to put more key words into. I have about half and half done on my site. I always forget to do them when I make links. I just go back and do them later.

It's nice when it benefits both, but you can see all over this thread that guys go back a few times to get people even to add the link. It benefits both of you. It benefits you because it's another URL where you have the word Home Inspector or Home Inspection added to, therefore Google thinks, gee this really is a home inspection site. It benefits the other guy because the page linking to his site has a url with the word Home Inspection. Yes, you'd have to set the URL manually. Like John said, do it when you have time.

Okay - I started making the changes. When the title does not have "home" in it - for instance, if it says "Always Good Inspection Services," I added the word "Home" into the URL, making it .../always-good-home-inspection-services.html". I assume that is alright to do even if the word home is not in the company's title?
My company has been called "Real Estate Inspections" since I incorporated in 1981. I assume that is alright also for SEO rankings? I called it that because I wanted to do residential and commercial inspections.
Also, Dom, would you recommend that I change my site address to "jaymarhomeinspection.com?" If I do that, I know I need to add that as a domain name, but how do I go about changing it? Do I somehow notify everybody, or simply have the old name direct to the new name? When I initially thought of the name I did not know you, had no experience, and was trying to make it short to more easily remember. Your advice please. Grathiath...

I also changed the URL paths for my Home Inspection Associations links too. I assume that helps as well.

jaymarhomeinspection.com is a MUCH better name, BUT the problem is age is very important in rankings too. If you had just started your site, I'd say switch. But since you're beyond the 6 month Google sandbox period I'd say leave it. If you ever decide to startup a second site focusing on thermal or commercial, then make sure we talk about the site name. It's not a big deal to add words to the url, it will help both of you.

Dominic. I think this would be a good suggestion, I think it would make things a little more easy if we could click on a person's profile and rather than just have basic info about them also have the link exchange info there also just like some of us have been putting it here on this page so people can find it and link it at any time very easy. All the link exchange info is under their profile and at the bottom of every post they make if they take the suggestion and put it in the signature area. This is why almost everyone here strongly urges new people to fill out the signature area.

That is frustrating but that is their deal. If they don't want to participate in the link exchange we cant force them to do so. All we can do is strongly suggest they fill out the signature area. Its only hurting their site! But we can all gang up on em n badger em to death though!!!
