So Greg are you saying essentially your report time takes an hour less but your inspection time increased by that same amount of time using a computer on site?

John, that is correct.  I essentially am doing the report while I inspect.  In the past though, my report was taking so much longer!  I'm getting quicker with the computer; my goal is to develop my habit pattern and get good at it--tagging pix at home is my next big hurdle (begin tagging at location) in case I have another inspection to go to. But this hasn't been a factor.

I do want to do the same as you, and had that question in the back of my mind.  Even if it doesn't save you time, you don't have paper blowing around in the wind (Oklahoma is VERY windy) and you look very high tech and professional.  That's, marketing you may not have intended!!!

You'll find after using the program for a few months you greatly reduce your time. Like David Macy who started out a 2.5 hours about 4 months ago is now down to 30-90 minutes depending on the size of the place. Greg, I think if you ever do end up switching to something with a larger screen it will speed you up quite a bit as well.

Speaking of screen size and all, I found a Q1 that goes up to 1.33GHz and has 2 gig memory in it.  But its about $1500.  I'm not sure if that's a great price or not, but at least its getting up there in speed a little and has the 2 gig memory.

That's more than you need. You can get the Q1 for $700, check out Micro Direct. A HIP user emailed me a few days ago to say he saw it for that price. Just make sure it has the Keyboard on the top as a few have none. The difference between 1ghz and 1.3 is negligible. The extra ram is nice, but if the 1 gig of ram machine is running XP it will be as fast as a 2 gig machine with vista and cost half as much.

How about $520 factory re-manufactured to new ? http://cgi.ebay.com/SAMSUNG-Q1-Q1U-EL-ULTRA-MOBILE-TABLET-PC-7-INTEL-A110_W0QQitemZ270275690566QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270275690566&_trkparms=72%3A1163|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Look around though, there's quite a few others on there. Just make sure it has a keyboard!

I purchased my Q1 for $700 from the Dell website. I was able to get a good price thanks to my wife's discount and Dom's help. I went for the one with the vista as it was about 500 cheaper then the one with explorer.
