I have had a Q1 for about a month now. I used to use a Portege laptop but it is to large for me to use in the field.

I really like the size for doing inspections in the field. 7" screen.

I purchased the one with Vista.

I create the report on laptop and transfer to Q with a thumb drive.

Then I do report in field. Transfer to laptop and complete at home.

I received a decent discount from Dell.

If you have any questions or comments please post.

Haha, gotta give some more details. How well is it working for you in the field? How easy is it to carry around? Is the battery lasting the entire inspection for you? I know quite a few guys are using the Q1, they might be hiding though Cheesy

I've been looking to get one.  They don't even sell them around here.  And so far, I haven't seen anything else quite like it.  I've looked at the specs on them, but I want to know if they can be tuned faster and bigger, i.e. HD, memory, buss speed, etc.  I've seen them on eBay and they have all kinds of variations.  I want to know what I can and cant get with it, so I can be an informed buyer.

There is supposed to be a dual core version out now or coming out shortly, I'll see if I can find the info. Bob Elliot showed me an interesting alternative last week that actually was a 7 inch tablet so you could flip out a keyboard or use it in tablet mode. I'll look up th site when I'm not posting from my phone!

Cool thanks... I know it will be a little while before I can get one, but I'd like to look around and not have to worry about impulse shopping!  Smiley

Check out http://www.vyeusa.com/

Definitely find a place that has the Q1 locally even if you have to look around a bit. Most guys love them. Some still would rather something a little larger. Really depends on your vision.

Do you have Best Buys? They do sell them so you could request that they order one in stock to check out.

Ya we have em.  I went online and did a search for the nearest retailer and it showed nothing for 95 miles.  I will go to the store and talk to them then.

I went to Best Buy and they rep told me the Q1 would be a special order item.  That if I wanted one I would have to pay for it.  They didn't even have any info on it.  He said they would have to get it through their business solutions web site.  Basically, I figure out what I want for a PC and they shop around and find it for me.

I think the size would be perfect but I'm a little concerned about the spec's on it.  The spec's I've seen are super old school now days.  But on the other hand, I'm only going to be using it for HIP.

My other concern about any PC I get, is the battery. How long does it last?  Do they have longer lasting ones?  How much are the spares?  Can I charge the spares without attaching it to the PC?

David Macy and some of the other guys can answer questions on their battery life. The speed isn't  a problem, especially if you get one of the faster ones. There's guys running Home Inspector Pro on 5 year old tablets.

Battery life is about 3 to 3.5 hours.

Try Dell for purchasing.

I may buy a spare battery and pen as I almost lost aa the pen fell in the toilet.

If you buy from Dell, try using the coupon code I posted earlier on the forum.
