Hi Guys
I did an Inspection on a townhome this morning. It had stone on the garage door jambs instead of siding. That was the only two spots that were covered in stone. There were no weep holes. Stone was set on a steel angle bar like some applications of brick veneer. The stone was not set on the foundation. No eveidence of moisture on the inside of the garage. Does this application need weepholes ? House is 5 years old. I also posted at your leaking house. here are some pics

I don't believe weep holes are an issue for the installation you are talking about.  The look like a cultured stone veneer type application.  Check out this diagram, http://www.qualitystoneveneer.com/Pub/UserMedia/Detail%20Drawings/QSV%2007.0Plan_View_Outside_Corner_Installation.pdf, it should give you a decent idea of i typical installation technique. Was the top of the wall at mid level or did it rise to the soffit area? If mid area, was it flashed?

It is probably flashed at the top.  That link I included in my earlier post has some good info on the general installation of that kind of material.  It has been on there for 5 years and there is no evidence of moisture intrusion in the garage, I wouldn't worry about it.  In short, weep holes aren't required;) There is a small "buffer" zone(usually vapor barrier) between the stone veneer and stud wall/sheathing.

Thanks The quality of construction was pretty good in this development. I just wanted to double check I thought it was ok. I have heard some hooror stories about the faus stone almost being as bad as EIFS if not installed correctly Thank you for you input

Hi. Jeff, what I see in your pics is definitely faux stone or cultured stone similar to Owens Corning product.
You can look at the base corner detail here, which might help you.
http://www.culturedstone.com/technical/flashingdetail1.asp

This link of the detailed map is very helpfull in this type of facade'

Hope this helps a little.

Great link Marcel.  No weep holes needed Jeff.  It is a faux product.  Could you see rusty spots at the tips of the staples on the garage side of the walls?  If so, they didn't use brass staples on the lathe, as they should have.  Other than that, it looks like a good installation.

Marcel I must say you have the best library of web links.

Here is a photo if anyone wants for weep hole illustration. I insert this into my report when I do not see weeps for brick veneer.

Jay

I feel trying to educate are clients is an important aspect of a good home inspector. Sometimes it is like talking to a dog as there head tilts as the try to understand what you are saying.

Weep holes!! Huh what!!

Like the say a picture is worth a 1000 words.

Wonder how long it took them to train the mice to go into the weep opening.

Looks like a good product. Thanks for the links.
