Dominic it would be great if we could add pictures to the summary page. This away the agents would only have to fax the summary page to the repair guy and not the whole report to get the pictures. Most inspectors here have there report with summary pictures.

Section name on each report page (i.e. "Roofing (cont.)" ) or something similar to let people keep track of where they are.

I would like to see a prompt for saving the template when you are closing the report. Like the "Would you like to save this client" prompt.

That one has been suggested and we've considered it as an option. Only reason we haven't as it's an extra click. The other thing is that if you've forgotten you can justopen the last inspection and then save the template as every inspection has the template stored within it.

We'll probably add it as an option.

I would like to see the software generate a list of inspected addresses and dates on a changeable time period.  This would be great for generating a quick list of houses we have inspected if we do other services on the side.

I could not agree more as I think the opposite option would be do you wish to lose this report.
it has happened to me many times when in a rush and poof it is gone.

Bob, there already is a 'Would you like to save this client' prompt when you close out of the program! It's been there since 2.0 if I remember right. Gary is asking about a saving the template prompt.

We do have this one on our list, but it's not a high priority yet. Too many other features to get done first. I do think it would be cool.

I would like a feature that allows me to see what my report looks like without having to generate a report, and allows me to see what it looks like as I edit my template.

What about an auto save feature? Will save the report every 10 minutes automatically.

Auto Save was removed during the first year the program was out. Saving takes a few seconds (up to 10 on slower computers and large jobs) and when guys are working on a tablet they barely look at the screen once they've memorized the locations. What ended up happening is that guys would miss that the program didn't accept a few of their selections as the program was saving during the process.

Since HIP actually writes DIRECTLY in PDF language (I don't think any other program does this) for speed, small file size and flexibility the only way to see the report is to generate one. Don't close out Acrobat in between instances of generating the report, just close the pdf file itself (the inner x box).

John, we have too many other large additions going into the program right now. We need to finish them up and get everything tested before adding in new features.

How do we see the template as we are designing it? Generate report? That takes too long in my opinion.

Generating a report takes 3-4 seconds on most computers if you already have Acrobat open. Of course if you have an older, slow computer it will take longer. The only reason it even takes that long as it actually generates the report twice, once to add all the info, the 2nd time to calculate out the page numbers of each comment. That's why HIP is the only program that has page and item numbers next to comments in the Summary.

If you want to see the layout, just click Edit Template, it shows you everything going on.

I would like the text for the pictures to stay in the edit box.  So when I go to add the text to the pic and then decide I want to change it around, it will still be there to change.  Right now we have to retype it every time we want to make a change to it.
