I am thinking of changing my insurance carrier. I need to have both E&O and General Liability
Any suggestion on companies to check out.

I just renewed my policy.
I went with a 1500 deductible.
I use Elite MGA. Not the cheapest but in my situation is what I wanted.

I checked a bunch of places and for me Nationwide came in the lowest with a $1500.00 deuctable, $500,000.00 across the board for GL and E&O. $2,400.00 for the first year and the told me the rate will decrease with experience and of coarse claims in a year. They also can finance the amount, my agent told me $604.00 down and $216.00+/- per month for 9 months at a stinging 19.9% intrest rate. I think I'll pay it all up front.
The crappy thing is the GL is only $165.00 a year the rest is E&O...

We use Elite MGA and they provide us with outstanding service and reasonable rates for $1,000,000 in coverage with a $5,000 deductible on the E/O. In Florida, we are able to get our Liabilty with Southern Owners Insurance for about $300 a year. Don't know if they have other jurisdictions.

Agreed! I've been with Bob Pearson and Allen Insurance for about 10 years now. I've had a claim as well and they were all over it. I've had the high end occurance policy for about $3600 per year including GL, EO and $1500 deductable. I hear from Bob the industry is moving away from occurance policies. I'll be getting a claims made policy this year at approx. $3000... Allens policies are always underwritten by larger well established insurance carriers such as Lloyds or Liberty Mutual. I hear other inspectors having very good results with FREA's Ben Garrison as well... |

Hi Rob,
I am located in Tacoma, WA and work the South Sound region. Have been in business for 7 years previously as a franchise owner and now independent. Sales are slow to say the least. I have a good week and then a dead week. But this has been happening for the last year and a half or so. A great time to just market yourself right now. Not so much to realtor's, but business groups, rotary etc... Persistence pays off.

I've been a General Contractor most of my life, it’s been good, I’ve built most Building from Homes to Hospital. But now its time for me to change I choose stay in the field, but not get tied-up for a year on one project. Home Inspections is something I know about so that’s what I'll be doing. I am having a problem putting my web site to gather, but I'll get it sooner or later.
I'm an old timer, but I need to keep busy.

I would also advise talking out a bond policy, costs about $100.
You can get your general liability with your E & O.
If you belong to an inspection association you can get info and discounts with them. Like ASHI, INachi
