Any early reviews on Win8? I am starting to get upgrade notices and wondering is I should even bother paying attention to them at this time?

Only if you uninstall Java 7 and install Java 6. Not recommended though as Java 6 is quickly becoming outdated. You're also missing out on over a years worth of great updates. Take advantage of the $50 off, pay the $199 and update to HIP 3 before the holiday sale is up!

Will there be any updates to v.2 of HIPro to let it work with Java 1.7?
I had to install java 1.7 for another application to work and this morning I can no longer use HIPro as it hoses the inspection file and removes all my tabs.
Useless. :-(
I have no particular need or desire to upgrade at this time despite the fine Holiday offer.

No, there hasn't been any updated to HIP 2 in over a year and a half. It took over 100 hours of programming to HIP 3 to make it work with Java 7. It doesn't make sense to pour all that time into a program that almost no one is using. Remember, the upgrade is only $150 right now during the holiday sale (coupon code HOLIDAYUPGRADE). You're missing out on a TON of features in HIP 3. You'll kick yourself for not upgrading soon.

Will it work on phones that have Windows Phone 8 or is that something different?

Windows 8 is simply the newest version of windows and the program should run fine unless you mean windows mobile version (RT) or the phone version and unless it suddenly becomes popular in the future which is doubtful at this point there will never be a mobile version for it.
There simply are not that many people using it and it would need to be worth Dom's time to develop it.
Android and i phone are two totally different systems and windows is yet a third.

Thanks! It doesn't say "RT". Some with Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8 ie: Windows Phone 8X HTC 8GB, Samsung Ativ S, Nokia Lumia 900

Whatever they call it it is not Android or iPhone and does not work on their systems as Microsoft has been trying to compete with their own which means also their own apps. Pretty much it is a Android / iPhone world right now. Blackberry is yet a 4th system.

As Bob stated, Windows 8 phone is something entirely different. Due to how new the system is we will not be developing for Windows 8 until we know it's going to stick around. They have around 2% of the market right now so it's not a good bet! Going Android or iPhone would be better.
