Dominic,

Is it possible to change themes without having to redo all of the work (and time) I've spent creating my site?

Yes. You can change themes whenever you want. The most you'd have to do is change the block locations if the new theme didnt have a location you previously used, which will take a few minutes at most.

Hi Dom,

I tried to switch from my Theme 7 to theme 5. As I understand not all themes has the ability to put both side bars in, and these two themes has these two side bars. The problem is that I lost all the logos, pictures and so on when I switched, so I switched it back to theme 7. Thanks god, I got everything back. As I saw about theme 7 I can change that top image(this whole block with magnifying glass)? This is what bothering me.

Just click on Blocks on the new theme and them put them back on the sidebars. All the blocks are still there, you just need to tell it where you want.

Gentlemen I would like some help please. Dan gave me instructions on how to change themes, but it ran into a dead end. He said go to themes, click on configure, and that took me to a page that I do not understand its functions. I was told that you could 1. Select a theme, (that won't change your existing) 2. Somehow see this new theme with your existing themes information and 3. Make changes if required. before you change your theme.
This is supposed to be easy? Does anyone have a format on how to do this so I can do again myself when I want?
Any Help, I would be grateful.

If you want to select a theme that only YOU can see then click on My Account in your Navigation Menu, click Edit, select a theme, save.

Dominic,

I'm tinkering with switching themes and I've logged in, selected a theme, selected it as a default, clicked configure, logged out, etc...

The theme will switch, but if I log back in, the theme reverts to my current one.  what am I doing wrong?

Go to My Account in your Navigation menu and change your personal theme too (affects you but not the public).

You don't have any stock pictures that large that look more like east Texas and less like California, do you?  I've also been trying to upload my logo which is roughly the same size.  Again, I'm clicking under Themes, "upload theme header image".  Not working.  Obviously my fault.  It's been so long since I've done anything like this to one of my sites.

Same steps, doesn't matter which theme you're on. You might need to do a shift-refresh too.

jpg, but it was larger than your photo.  So that's probably why it wouldn't take it.

Change your theme under My Account and under Admin Menu->Themes. Only you can see the first change (good for private testing).

Some themes can. Look under Themes->Configure at your theme for all the options. We can also update and make it a custom theme if needed.
