Sevice Magic for Leads

Are any of you guys using Service Magic for leads? They called me today and gave a terrific sales pitch, including getting a "moby" website details. These sales guys always seem to have the right thing to say. It seems a lot like Angie's List (which I already joined), but they charge for leads instead of clicks. Just wondering if anybody has or does use them?

It sure wasn't the same guy that called me.  Very insulting.  I called corporate and turned him in.  What an A Hole.

Service Magic charges for ALL leads, regardless of whether you get the job or not.  The same lead will go to multiple inspectors and it is up to you to make the sale.  If the lead is bogus, it is up to you to make the claim and argue with SM to get your money back.

If you are desperate for business, it might increase your business if you know how to convert.  If you don't know how are are uncomfortable with the hard sell, it isn't for you.

Thank you Stephen. Actually, the guy who called me was not an A Hole at all-just the opposite. That's a shame, because I enjoy those types-I have a lot of sarcastic fun with them. And yes, though I do need business, I am uncomfortable paying for a lead, though I am pretty confident in my ability to close the deal from the lead. But, at like 10 bucks per lead, I can imagine if they give me 4 or 5 "cold leads" every week, it could get expensive. I will probably opt out, I just saw a couple of my competitors have the SM logo on their site, and wondered if anybody hear had used them.
