Let me know when you will be available and I will give you a call. Still working out a few kinks, but I think I have it.

Quick question for Dom. With only 10 spaces available for the template, what do we do when there are multiple AC, Furnace and water heaters in addition to the regular appliances?

I'll be adding a feature to allow unlimited entries. Nathan told me that the average inspector never uses more than 6 submissions.

OK - got it going pretty well - at least I understand the general procedures. Question : can I also have some descriptive text in front of the manufacturer, model and serial numbers ([[RecallChek Model]] Model No. : TEST54321 for example)so that it will make sense in the printed report? Otherwise all that will be printed will be the numbers.

Yeah - I just figured out that I probably would need to do it that way. Thanks

Troy, I would check with RecallChek to make sure they're okay with the words Model # being sent to them. I'm not sure of the answer to that.

Okay, RC told me yesterday that you can't send anything else except the actual model name and brand. So adding the extra text is a problem. I suggest putting the extra text in the Description Text field in the particular panel or removing it from the RecallChek section before uploading. You can leave the notes as they disappear automatically.

Before I start tearing up my template for RC, I have a couple of questions... 1) Can the RC information be put in a selection panel - things like brand, model, etc. don't seem like they really belong in a "damage" section.
2) Neither of the workarounds suggested appear to be very practical (lots of clicks involved vs what I do now to submit via a 3rd party). I don't know enough about the HIP programming to say (multi-user Basic was the most advanced I ever worked with) but would it be possible to enter the information as "Model #:[[RecallChek Model]]5555555555" and have the system transfer only the string to the right of the[[RecallChek Model]] note when moving data to the RecallChek template? That way, the report would still be readable to the client.

1) Yes 2) Let me think of a way to do this.
The easiest way I can think of is to have a 2 selection panel, 1 damage panel tab. The description text for the 2 selection panels would be Model #: & Brand #: Then the damage panel has the normal observations. Then you just select your brand, type your model and you're good to go.

Yes, I found out the way I suggested wasn't working. For now I am deleting the extra information before uploading.

I guess I am going to wait and see what Dominic works out for this as well as the need to enter more than 10 items. I have another way to get the info to them now that is not really too time consuming. This will be better once all the bugs are worked out.

Right now I am still putting the information in the report and then copy/paste to the ISN form for RecallChek.

Why not use HIP? If you want to add the additional text you can, just remove it from the form before you upload to recallchek.

I do it that way because I can copy/paste faster than selecting and removing. Also, I transmit serial numbers as well. Although RC doesn't use them, as such, they include them in their report to the client because it is useful information for those items that are identified as "possible recalls". I also need to be able to process more than 10 items.

What about multiple appliances of the same type, such as HVAC equipment. For instance, many times there are two HVAC systems. So, in my heating section, I would need two recallchek blocks. Will that work? How? Thanks.

For RecallChek you have to treat each HVAC item separately. So if you have two split heat pump systems, each compressor and each air handler would be listed separately (total of four items). To further complicate matters, if they are split AC systems with a gas furnace you could be reporting two compressors, two evaporator sections and two furnaces, or a total of 6, although some people probably would not report the info for the evaporators in that case.
