Hi Guys,

I've been down for the count with the flu for 3 days now - I don't recommend it.  But I'm too excited about 3.0.5 and I want to see what all it can do.  Dumb question - Where do I go to work with the sketch pad?  And could I have found this info out without bothering you?

Thanks!

It is in photo edit.
You will like the dropdown feature to as the right side drops automatically to speed up things.

So just send them a link!?

You claim to want to so much more but you can't send one simple email?

How often does this happen?

You upload the report. You get an email that it is loaded. It gives you a link. Send them the link. Done...

3.0.5, Can't get these feature to function. Anyone else having problems.

New Feature: Added a right click option in all fields for Undo/Cut/Copy/Paste/Select All!

New Feature: New item separator for damage panels (observations) called Numbering added. This will auto number comments in a format using the item number/letter + comment number. For example if Kitchen Cabinets are item 2 then the comments within that item will be 2.1,2.2, etc. The same format will appear on the summary. This will be expanded in the future to include selection panels and a few additional options.

Hi John,

Check under About->About and verify what version you're running.

Right click will show spelling suggestions if you're on a word that's spelled wrong and show the copy/paste menu at other areas.

Click Edit Comments on any damage panel to select the numbering option then add some comment to black/red to test it out.

Dom, features works great except UNDO function is not active. Also, did an undo button get added. Example I have mistakenly deleted a comment that I revised from within the damage panel and would like option to undo to get the comment back.

There's an undo when you're typing a comment (like if you just deleted a word within a comment), not one to un-delete.

Hello Dominic,

I love the photo auto drop down feature. Any chance of going one step further and having the caption narratives (3rd drop down window) auto open when the 2nd box is selected?

Hmm, that's a possibility. I have a few other ideas to speed the process up even more and should be able to integrate that in.

Hi Ethan,

Install http://www.homeinspectorpro.com/dmdocuments/HomeInspectorPro-3_0_6.dmg

What version of Mac are you using? Send me an email or jump on live chat when you get a chance so we can do a remote session.

Concerning the photograph drop downs:

Developing a new weatherization template using 3.0.5 I lost a feature that I used to use (I made adjustments to the template for other reasons as well and I'm not trying to solve the problem, just throw out some information).

In the past I would upload my photographs. I would then use a keyboard shortcut by left clicking on the drop-down box and typing the first letter of the title I wish to use.

If there were more than one title with the same beginning letter, you could scroll through those selections by retyping the first letter until it showed up.

With the new version, you have one choice and the second drop-down box opens automatically.

The second issue was about the number and order of the selections in the drop-down box. There in order by which they were created not chronologically or alphabetically. There is no way to change their location once they're there.

So in the new version you must click on the drop-down and scroll through the selections. I don't know how some of you use all the tabs that you assign a new templates, but when I tried this, my drop-down selections got huge. There was really no rhyme or reason for their assigned order in accordance with the report order. This requires that you basically read every tab and deficiency box title in the template.

One improvement that I would like to see concerning the picture caption boxes is if they would expand by hovering over them or open another text box so you can see everything written under the photograph without scrolling horizontally back to the front and scroll back and read back to the end. Currently I cut and paste back into DragonPad, edit and cut and paste back into HIP.

I sometimes dictate right into the caption and there is no way to proofread what the computer wrote.

Dominic,

Having problems with version 3.0.5 for OSX on 10.7.2. The Save dialog box is taking a LONG time to populate and then when I try to save an inspection after the initial save, the program crashes. I have tried multiple times with new and existing data files.

David,

The page & item drop down boxes should match the other you have things listed in the report. So if the cabinets are the first thing in the kitchen they will be the first listed in the kitchen item drop down box too.

I did notice the you can't scroll down with the keyboard now, I'll look into that some more as well a way to expand the caption box.

Julian, can you click on Live Chat when you get a chance so we can do a remote session? If it's not enabled, check back a bit later as I might run out to get some food. The new native dialog boxes are causing some issues on some Mac's and I'm trying to narrow it down. We've had no problems with it on Windows.

My old e-mail address had disappeared so I just changed it on my profile.  Was the link to version 3 already e-mailed?  If so, could you post it again or email it to me please.  Much appreciated! Smiley
