I was just playing around and found that if I insert a sketch into the report and go back and try to edit it with the edit pic tab, it starts up like your making a new sketch and once you insert your dimensions it locks up as a blank box. As you pass the mouse around the screen, some parts of the header tabs start to open...

Dave A

I would be interested in seeing one of your sketches.

Dom has done one heck of a job with the program.

I would like to see an undo button in the picture area as I seem to delete one now and then.

David A., that's been fixed in 3.0.3. now, make sure you've updated.

Dave M., do you mean an 'Are you Sure' button when you click remove?

Hey Dom, I have been tinkering with the new 3.0 HIp and I like the changes you have made. The one thing I would like to see in the sketch program is the option to calculate the square footage , so when I'm done with my sketch it will show me the total sqft measured and maybe I missed it but I would like to see some room identifiers ie: bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen..etc. I have a service that is gaining popularity where I give accurate sqft of listings, right now I have to use my wife's appraisal software for it but would love to see it in HIP.

Thanks!!

Greg,

It is not wise to attempt to give exact square footage.  You could be held liable for misinformation, especially in CA where everything is so litigious, and you could be held responsible by a subsequent buyer that was not even your client.  At best, if you feel the need to include the information, use the county / city records as they are the only legal information on the property.  When I put the square footage in my report, I always have the source of the info in brackets after the number.  i.e.    2,076 sq ft (CR)

Steve, Thank you for your input, but I do not provide the buyers with this information, this is a listing service ONLY for agents, I have no liability with this service. It is just so the agents know what they are dealing with as most of the county records are incorrect, due to improper reporting, or un-permitted additions. I give no representation as to value and buyers never see the sketch.

I'd have to think about how to handle this Greg as there's multiple shapes and you might want to include some but not others. Once everything is drawn though square footage is a simple length x width calculation so it should be easy to figure out.

Bob, I'm slowly getting all the file browsers switched over to the new viewer.

Glad to hear as it is much more pleasant to see the image than try to remember a file number or rename images.

Sketch is substantially less "buggy" and workable for now.  A nice add on would be to save as "jpg"

Attached is my test "playing around" with it. Scroll down to "Photos" section for the full view.
Pretty cool features and will be an awesome feature for some reports!

Thanks for the work on this Dominic!

Very Nice, I would suggest cropping the sketch to remove the excessive grid, unless you like it.

Great job. I need to do a WDI with the sketch, then I can charge more.

That was 1/2 page option I think.  Was just toying with it.  1/4 page would probably crop it nicely and you have the option of turning off the grid.  Dom has done some nice work with it!

Thanks Bill, I'm glad you'll find a use for it! There's definitely quite a bit more work to do to get it where it should be, but it's getting there.

The image actually is a png file. If you open the Home Inspector Pro\Data\Temp\(random name for this inspection) you'll see the png. I'll add in a way to grab that file easier in case you want to use it for another program.

Dave M. I see that if I click Add Text and get the popup but see that if I click outside the window it will disappear. If I click anywhere though it pops right up.

It depends on what the image is of. If it's a graphic like these sketches, yes. If it's an image, then no.
