If you're syncing data, then yes, I'd assume you need the client on each machine. This would be the case for any synchronization software.

Okay guys I'm frustrated...  Here is what I want and I'm willing to upload everything to Google this time.

I want my calendar, contacts and email to be the same on all three of my computers and my phone.  If I update a contact on one, it updates the others!!!

I want my HIP to be the same on all three of my computers.  If I update on one, I want all three to be the same.

I want all my personal files, music, etc to sync to my new computer and not my inspections computer.  And again, if I update one, it updates all.

I want this to be done automatically.

I dont want to have to pay a monthly fee.

So far I cant seem to get all these wants in one nice neat little package without having to be a super tech on computers.  I even tried putting contacts and calender on Google and I still cant seem to get everything to stay synced.

If you use web based mail, contacts & calendar you can accomplish that easily. And it'll sync with your phone.

As far as the free sync to all programs nice and pretty, well they're like the $99 inspections people like too. They're out there but not something you really want.

Well I've been able to get me calendar to sync from my computer to my gmail using the, then to my phone using google sync.  But its not working on the contacts. So far the only way I have to do the contacts is either plug my phone into my computer and run the HTC Sync software.  That will get everything from computer to phone but not to gmail.  Or I can export/import the contact from computer to gmail.  But that doesn't get them into my phone.

So again, I'm stuck!  And that's not even getting my other computer involved yet!!!  Is it really this hard to sync information???

Contacts between Gmail and your phone should auto sync. What model phone is it?

I have an EVO 4G.  I had to import all my contact from my outlook to my gmail.  It wasnt pulling them off the phone.

I stand corrected.  I created a test contact in gmail and it did go to my phone.  But it still doesn't sync to my outlook.  Id have to plug my phone into my computer and use the HTC sync to get my contacts to sync from my phone to my pc.  HTC sync is part of my headache.  Every so often it locks up and next thing I know I have anywhere from 2 to 4 copies of the same contact.

Easy solution there. Stop using outlook, it's worthless.

I'm beginning to come around to your way of thinking.  So whats my alternative? 

It would need to be able to either pull my emails from my primary email account (Cox) or from my gmail account (gmail pulls a copy of everything from my Cox account).  Also keep my contact and emails in sync with my other computers. 

This was the reason I was moving everything online to my gmail account.  That way I can access everything from any computer online.  But what other email browser will stay synced up with gmail correctly???

All browsers sync with GMail.

You want to pull your cox email into Gmail.

How do I get my contacts in outlook to sync with gmail?  Gmail sync only seems to be linking the calendar.  To get my contact into gmail originally, I had to export from outlook and import into gmail.  This isnt a sync in my world!  lol

Your web browser is all you need. You go to gmail.com, log in and you're done. That's all I've used for 10 years. Software programs like outlook slow down your computer and you're up a creek when your computer crashes.

Okay, that's where I was heading when I started putting all my info into Gmail. 

Now for the other part of this big debacle, How do I get my HIP and my other files to sync on all my computers automatically?  This Vicevera Pro software seems to be what I was looking for but it requires that I make a computers connect in a network.  I was able to do it with XP but not Win 7.  Also, how do I make the entire computer visible?  When I'm searching for the files I want to sync with viceversa, I cant see anything but the common share files.

You'll need to right click on folders and set them to share. You'll find free programs that sync over the network but only paid programs that sync via the internet as they require storage on their end. Careful sharing everything. If you don't lock your computer properly you'll be exposed when on other networks.

What do I need to do to make sure its locked properly?  I got HIP to sync between my two XP computers.  Now I need to figure out how to set up Win 7 for the network so I can get it HIP synced on it!  Any pointers?

Make sure they all have the same workgroup name and make sure they all have the same username & password to make things easy.
