You'd have to create a Panel with 3 sections in the center and put the slideshow in the center one. You wouldn't need to use any sides. Create this as a new Panel , get it setup the way you want, then make it your home page.
The only text you can add to the slideshow is by changing the file names.

So I can't add it to the existing text on my existing home page? I have to make a whole new home page?
What about the other question of adding text like I did for the inspection image gallery?
The panes only accept images? No text?

The slideshow does not accept text, it only displays the file names. You can insert a slideshow in an existing page, but only to the top or bottom of it. If you want it in the middle you have to use a Panel instead of a Page. It's just a matter of copy and paste though.

I added text somehow, but now I can't remember what I did. My head hurts, ALOT!!
How do I add it to the top of my home page?
I am also noticing that when I add an image to the existing sideshow, it does not show up right away, there seems to be a delay. I have my slideshow in a block, but also in my menu as a page. The menu page says there are 7 images, the block says there are 6.

Are you talking about a photo gallery or a slideshow? What menu page lists the number of images?
It's possible some things do have a delay as parts of the site are cached to speed things up.

Look at my site Dom, I have a slideshow there now. It tells you on the slideshow the number of images, ie:1/7. I have the slideshow on my home page and also on a separate page all by itself that is listed in the navigation menu. If I go to the page it says 1/6 but the home page said 1/7. It seems like the changes take some time before they show.
As far as text for the images. When I set up my image gallery I added text to help with SEO. I wanted to do that for the slideshow. I am not sure if it helps or not for the slideshow. did add some text, but should each image have it? Isn't there something called an alt tag? I do not know what that is, I have just seen it before.
Now, you said something about putting the slideshow into a table. I added a table, how do I get the slideshow in there?

The alt tag comes in with normal images. Look at the image properties (click the image then the image button) and add in your keywords to the alt tag.
Both slideshows say 1/7 for me. Your computer is caching the javascript. Hold shift and click F5 to force your browser to get the latest version off the net.
Go to Create Content and click on Panel and play around with one.

A panel is like a page but split into zones so you can insert the slideshow into the middle of the page. You need to click the image (a normal image, not one in a slideshow) and then click the image link button and enter the properties. |

A panel splits up the page nicely if you want different areas. You could use a normal page with a table instead, it's up to you.
I am confused. You posted what is quoted above, but now you are saying it can't be done. Am I misunderstanding something? |

Sorry, I meant a block, not a table. And that only works for the top or bottom of a page.
You do this to images that you've inserted within the content of a normal page. It's the same button you use to insert the image onto the page itself.

Ahh I get it now.
Ok I just made a test panel, I used the I copied my text from the home page to the top panel, then added my slideshow to one of the middel panels, then added the rest of the text to the bottom, so take a look at it, that is basically how I want it. So the next thing is how to change the font and colors like I have it on my home page. I do not see how to do that.
I named it "test slideshow"

Now for the image thing. I have my images in the image gallery thing page. When I go to edit, it does not let you use the insert/edit image button. the image is at the top. the button is in the text box.

Don't use pictures with different heights when making a slideshow with text below it, you'll make people dizzy as the text will move as they're reading it.
Create the top and bottom as 2 different blocks, then add the blocks to the panel.
Images in the image gallery you don't have to worry about. Just fill out the description and all the meta data.

OK Dominic, I understand the picture alt text now.
I disabled my home page page and created a home page panel. Now, I noticed that my site info slogan is gone from the home page and it is replaced by the panel page title. Will that hurt my SEO? Also, I am looking at my site and it seems the disabled home page is still showing up. I did the shift refresh thing and it does not change. Also, in the panel under "publishing options" it has a check in the box next to "promote to front page", what does that mean or do?
If I click on the menu item that is my home page it takes me to the home page panel I just created.

On the panel you made your page title: orland-park-home-inspector, that's what you want for a URL! Orland Park Home Inspector is much better (and I updated it).
I swapped it with your home page (changed the Site Information home page URL).
You will need to update that Home link at the top under Menus.
What do you think now?
