The CTL tablet looks good, so does the Dell Duo (I admit to being a Dell fan). Anyone have experience with the (NEW!) Dell product with HIP?

Hi Wendell,
I haven't tried out the Dell Duo yet but I've been following it and it does look like a cool device. The two biggest problems that I see with it are A. It's not as rugged, no rubber casing or handle. B. It's a touch screen, stylus won't work (you can try these new stylus's made for touch screens but I haven't tried them yet). This means that you have to type with one hand as you hold the computer in the other. Not too practical.
I'd get my hands on one first to try it out, then let us know what you think!

Thanks, Dominic. After reading some user reviews, I think the Dell unit has a "ways to go" before I would consider it. My old Fujitsu convertible tablet is showing signs of age. It has been a good computer, but they are expensive compared to the CTL unit, which appears to be a good product. Thanks again for your input.

Glad to help. I'm really excited about all the new tablets coming out. The design of the Dell Duo is great, but I would wait until it's been refined and tested a bit as you mentioned.

So far, the CTL is a great product. While I haven't actually done an entire inspection on it (trying to get a feel for it, tweak my template) it's a super tool.
Did we ever figure out if you can upgrade the RAM any more? 3 gigs would be nice (trying to watch inspection videos is a little difficult), 4 would be sweet!

I think 2 is the highest but I will check. What videos are you trying to watch? You should have plenty.

Well, I don't want to get in trouble for "plugging" an association... The video plays Ok if you don't go full screen on it...which makes is a little difficult to sit and watch.

You can talk about associations all you want. Just no arguing over which is best or which stinks So if you go full screen is it lagging?

Yes, it was lagging if I went full screen. If I left it normal, it kept up well.

HIPREF20 is the coupon code for $20 off. I only suggest the 2 gigs of ram and the $115 warranty.
