I for one would be interested in seeing Marcel's 3 family report.

I always pick up an idea or two for others.

Good work!!

Dave, I have been trying to get the PDF file attached using attachments below, but it tries to download the whole thing instead of the file attachment and doesn't work.
I have never been able to attach a file for some reason on these message boards.
I know I doing something wrong, just don't know what.  Smiley

Marcel

I know what you mean!!

I believe you can not attach due to the size of the file.

I think you need to upload report thru the upload service. Then attach as a hyperlink.
If you have a minute please email me your report. I really would like to see your latest master piece. I can post it for you.

I am toying with the idea of reducing the size of my reports. To much stuff!!

I don't think I would call it a Master Piece, I am still having difficult time in putting everything in order. Everyone I do I pick up on mistakes and try to correct it on the next one.
I am still very green with this report system. I don't do too many compared to you guys. But I am learning.

I will send you a copy to review and let me know what I am doing wrong.

There are a lot of things I would add if I new how sometimes.  Grin

Thanks in advance.

I am sure he would appreciate any constructive criticism or comments

http://www.homeinspectorpro.com/index.php?option=com_inspectionreports&reportID=13364&file=Marcel_sample-Report-13364.pdf

Here are a few of my observations.

Blank page 4.
Is hose bibs one b or 2.
you have locations and types titled observations in some areas. Like Materials: Living Room
Pg 18 has a document that I do not think belongs there.
spelling error on pg 25 toda
#7 pg 25 why would a GFCI that did not test with tester but tested with reset be a defect. Did it not just lack the equipment ground.

pg 31. what does this mean Observations: recommend GFCI, 2 prong ungrounded outlets

I am half way through. Looks pretty good with the layout and pics. I like the term normal wear, like the drum trap comments

Thanks for uploading that David.

Marcel, you're coming along nicely. Each report you do will definitely look better than the previous! To change the order go to Report Settings->Section Colors & Print Order and you'll be able to move pages up & down.

Thanks Dom, but having problems with adding documents. Add a Summary opening page and told it to be before the Summary, and somehow it overlapped. I know I am doing something wrong, just need to figure it out. And I am slow with these things.  Smiley
I ended up with a blank #4 page too, and don't know what caused that. I'll figure it out somehow.
Thanks for the help and thanks Dave for posting it.  Smiley

http://www.homeinspectorpro.com/index.php?option=com_inspectionreports&reportID=13364&file=Marcel_sample-Report-13364.pdf

Here are a few of my observations.

Blank page 4. Don't know yet how that occurred and left it there so the numbering sequence would not look like I left it there.

Is hose bibs one b or 2.  two b's, wish there was a spell check, I did not pick up on misspelled words.

you have locations and types titled observations in some areas. Like Materials: Living Room Must be the way I entered 1 damage panel thingy. Having a hard time with that.

Pg 18 has a document that I do not think belongs there.I agree, I don't know how it got there either. Grin
spelling error on pg 25 today I need a spell check on this program.  Wink

#7 pg 25 why would a GFCI that did not test with tester but tested with reset be a defect. Did it not just lack the equipment ground.

Yes. So use to regular wiring, did not even think about K&T.  Smiley

pg 31. what does this mean Observations: recommend GFCI, 2 prong ungrounded outlets Well, apt. two, gave all of us a hard time. The tenant claims she was not notified and was a little rude with the whole thing. So in order to appease her frustrations with myself, the client and the agent, a walk through was initiated and took as many pictures I could. As you can see, the bathroom and kitchen sections were left out. So basically that was just a general comment. Should have explained better in the report.

I am half way through. Looks pretty good with the layout and pics. I like the term normal wear, like the drum trap comments

Thanks Dave for pointing these things out. It was very difficult for me to edit my template for these additional areas.
Some of those things will take me awhile to figure out what I did wrong editing the template.

Damage panel thingy is my worst one. Mess it up every time. I have taken that tutorial a dozen time and still having a hard time.

I just need to do more inspections to learn the program. Documents is difficult for me to get right also.

Anyways, the client was here tonight an was happy with her electronic file I sent out Sunday, picked up her hard copy, and said most likely, this will not buy the property due to the K&T. There insurance company will not insure it, and doubtful the cost of repairing to code of today, the seller won't want to lower the price that much.
She did say they are looking at another property and will definitely call me again. So that is encouraging news.

Thanks for picking up some of those errors. Let me know if you find more.  Smiley

Marcel,

There is a spell check. All misspelled words are underlined in red. Right click on the word to see correct spellings. The problem with a word like bib is that it IS a word, just not the one you wanted.

Click Edit Comments and on the left you'll see description text. You can change the word Materials to anything you want there.

I'd have to do a remote session with you at some point to see what you have going on with the summary document.

Thanks Dom, and I will play with this over the weekend a bit and try to figure it out.
My last day at work tomorrow. Looks like I'll have plenty of time.

One more question. How do you copy or create an index like is shown when the report is generated.
That would be nice to have after the Title Cover.  Smiley

The PDF has a built in Index on the left side. You click on any page and it jumps right too it. We're working on the option of building in a physical index of those that print. It was a very rarely requested feature until the last few months where we now have 7 or 8 guys asking for it so we'll be adding it in.

That would be great Dom for us hard copy guys. People around here expect a hard copy with as much other helpful hits you can put together. They like the electronic copy for convenience ability to use it to keep the wheels in motion.

I figured out the problem with the Opening statement overlapping the Summary.

I had check the box to include on section before Summary and it overlapped.
Did it again and this time checked the box for to include on same page as section, and it came out alright.

I knew it was something I did wrong.

Still learning.  Smiley

I sure do receive a lot of emails notifying me that the Marcel sample has been viewed. Is that you Marcel or are there a lot of people looking at your sample?
