The Edit Documents section actually uses html code which we then translate directly into pdf code. Because there's not a translation for everything, we've had to limit what could be done with the document editor. We will be adding more into this soon though as we've found a few work arounds to the PDF limitations.

For those of you trying to add images now. To the right of the font size is an invisible button. If you hover your mouse to the right of the font size button but centered with the button you will see a little button popup that you can click on. This button reveals the source code for the document. Here you can directly add images.

For example, here's a logo I have in my HIP directory. The <div align="center"> is for centering the image. Note the full path to the image is used for the src.
Code:
<div align="center">
      <img align="center" src="C:\Program Files (x86)\Home Inspector Pro2\Data\Documents\logo.png">
</div>

Then hit the invisible button again to switch back to the normal editor.

Dominic , can,t you just add a line that page and a half down or so where pasting works?

I couldn't get that to work on my system Bob. I tried for like 20 minutes. Plus you don't have as much control as this method. Eventually I'll have a nice insert photo button, but I need to make it work perfectly first.

But yes, as mentioned in the signature thread, the editor is actually interactive so you can try to paste a photo. Bob, were you pasting out of Spartan? Using the above method, the image size comes out normal too, I thought you were getting super large images when pasting.

I have been pasting from Sparten, but will your method allow any graphic image.

A simple ability to paste PDF would be the best way.Anybody can do that.

I am looking  forward to thumbs on the edit comment page, or ability to scroll comments not chosen yet onto pics to save the extra back and foth process us 200 photo guys go through. Grin

Still working on that feature. This post is about a feature that's been there all along, just no obvious way to use it (as it was hidden on purpose). This works with any jpg, gif, png which is what Spartan was doing, pasting the link.

Oh so it will not work from regular file pics then.?
Guess I never tried as I am so used to using Spartan for everything.

Well they can get the free version at free clip .com.

Dom,

I have noticed a weird issue with v2.6.0.4 for Mac.  The edit picture window keeps resetting the color to yellow, even after I set it to red.

Did you set the default color under Report Settings->Options?

Are you clicking on Save Template? Can you change information on your company info and does that save?

Yes.  I tried Saving the Template, but when I reopen the template the color is back to yellow.  I can change company info and that will save.  This problem just popped up recently, possibly after the last update I don't remember when I updated, but it worked before.

I just reviewed the code, that should get saved with the Company Info (so across all templates). I'll test it out and see what's up. I haven't heard any other Mac users say anything but they might just be sticking with yellow.

I'm not sure if this question applies to this subject, but when I review my reports, I see my photos and captions, and when they are emailed to clients, there are no pics or captions.
Any suggestions?

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the forums.

Different topic but I can still answer. When you are working on the report you have to make sure to select the two drop down boxes above each photo. The first sets the page, the second sets the item within the page so the program knows exactly where to put the photo. When you generate report you should then see all your photos and captions. The PDF that's generated is the same that you'll email so if you see it in Acrobat as a PDF, the client will see the same.

I added the signature to my greeting document, check it out. I would have posted only that document, but I do not know how to isolate one page of a PDF.

You can use a separate PDF editor for that.
You should have submitted a template while you were at.

Looks great Mike!

You can install a program like Bullzip (free) which allows you to hit Print in any program and print directly to a PDF. This includes printing from one PDF, selecting the pages and creating a new PDF.

Actually in this case Mike could have just cut a graphic image. Cheesy

Well I hope the Happy Client template is making you happy Mike.
I still use a basic form of it, but with more tabs.

Let me know if you ever fine tune it.

I like it because it follows Illinois SOP.
