Should a standard inspection include gas fed, thermostatically controlled, ceiling hung garage heaters?

Never seen one here in California Smiley Make sure to go to Profile up above and add your location so people know where you are.

I don't see why that wouldn't be included in looking up the homes HVAC system.

I would include it in my garage section.   Those heaters usually don't have any ducting.  It is a simple inspection.  Just make sure to check the mounts.  Depending on the size, it could be a lot of weight.  Sort of like the home mechanic that doesn't think anything about putting an engine hoist in the middle of a truss and hanging an engine there for weeks.

Joe,
You would inspect it the same as a forced hot air unit that would be in the house. I just had one last month and this one was vented to the outside through the wall. So, check for the proper normal operation and the flue venting (if any) for clearances and termination.

It's an important component of the home, same things would apply. Although I see these a bit less last few years. I'll still see them in small commercial buildings.... fed by uncoated brass lines too.
