Dom- can you give us some ideas in how to use the Favorite & Featured Listings?

Where would we get listings from?

What would we put in the listings?

Any specific info would be great.

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

I setup this feature awhile back but it's only been enabled on a few guys sites that wanted it. There were 2 main reasons for it. The first was if you're doing a pre-inspection of some sort you could add the fact that you're listing the home on your site (a few pictures, the house details, basic MLS stuff) as an added benefit in your marketing to clients and agents.

The second reason was so you could make a link to view your pre-inspection sellers report and make it available for free, or even add a link to your credit card processing or paypal page for a pay per view report.

You get the listing info from the MLS and from your actual inspection.

So, potentially one could go to the MLS, create listings for homes for sale from there, put them on our site, put a CC form on there to purchase a prelist inspection, and market it to the homeowner? Or am I understanding this wrong?

You could do that but it would be quite a bit of work.

What guys have been doing is passing around fliers to agents and sellers saying they'll do a preinspection and add the fact the site will be advertised on your site as an additional perk to getting the inspection. This usually accompanied a pre-inspected sign for the yard, printed reports for the house, etc.

It's disabled by default, would you like me to turn it on for your site?

This sounds interesting I would like to look at it more.

John,

I turned it on for you. Use http://www.bluffshomeinspection.com/node/add/listing to add a listing to your site (only you can access the link when you're logged in).

I get a message that says I have exceeded my maximum number of listings, but I dont have any entered.

Also when logged out it says that I cannont use the email feature for favorite listings unless Im logged in. Is this where I would need to use the User Login Block to have people log into my site?

Sorry about that, I forgot to setup all your permissions. You should be good now.
