I didn't fall in but I do have egg nog on my face.
Didn't totally open my fireplace damper late last nite. Not that I needed a fire, but wanted to use up firewood I had from trimming trees. You should have seen the brick front of the fp and the white mantle this morning.
Alarm system siren went off in attic. Had to yank apart wire connect to get it to shut off.

Hope it did not do too much smoke damage Joe. I know the feeling, during the ice storm of 98, a lot of smoke came in from a defective built fireplace that I had never used, but it was the only source of heat for a few days.

The mantle can be repainted and the brick I was able to scrub pretty well. I'da taken pictures, but I figured I should destroy all evidence.  I coulda posted pics and asked, Would you hire this inspector? |
