Is it possible to put address contacts in alphabetical order?
4  Home Inspection Questions / Inspection Discussion / Re: Apartment building inspection on: June 11, 2010, 07:26:08 AM
Yes it is commercial. I was told it was listed as residential but the assessors page states commercial. So this is another world, I am not a certified commercial inspector. I beleive that is required.
This is for a friend. Would it work to do a walk through and not actually generate a formal report? He was mainly concerned with asbestos and structural possibly HVAC. It's an old school house converted to 10 appartments.
5  Home Inspection Questions / Inspection Discussion / Apartment building inspection on: June 08, 2010, 04:30:10 PM
Just got a call to inspect a 10 unit apartment building. Listed as residential. Open for any input. I sort of figure it as 10 mini homes or 5 houses,,but want to be fair on pricing. Plus any liabilities that might arise since it is an apartment building. Actually it is an old school house.
Input welcome. Thank you,
Tim

8  General Discussion / Computer Questions / Re: A New Tablet!! CTL2Go on: February 26, 2010, 06:46:45 AM
Makes sense Dominic, Thanks.
The Idea Pad Rick is getting has 1gb of ram. Is that enough to run HIP and microsoft office? The company doesn't currently have a 2gb option.

Dominic, If I was to stay with a tablet, so I could burn CDs, what is a good reliable unit?
Thanks

Rick, I'd like to know how HIP works on this model when you get it. Had a bad experience with a HP tablet - pencil didn't work very well. Just don't want to go through that again. Thanks

Actually my question was for HIP users.

For you folkks that are using the CTL2go, how do you get along with the 8.9 in screen? My last tablet had a 12 in screen and I liked it.
Just a bit concerned about the adjustment to the smaller screen. It's an age thing wtih the eyes I guess.
13  General Discussion / Computer Questions / Re: A New Tablet!! CTL2Go on: February 20, 2010, 07:44:09 AM
Hey Dominic,
So would it be better to get the extra ram or just go with the 1.6 it comes with? I'll be using the CTL2go for home inspections and for excell spread sheets on heat lose evaluations.
I've called those folks 2 times and never hear back. Is there an extension I should be trying other than#223 - Matt Kents?
14  General Discussion / Computer Questions / Re: A New Tablet!! CTL2Go on: February 17, 2010, 06:41:57 AM
Thanks Dominic. I do take a lot of photos but usually add them at home using my desk top. I will be adding microsoft office to use spead sheets. I found their web site. So i'll go from there.
Have a good day
Tim

I love it. I've been using it for months. I hear tons of positive feedback from inspectors too. In fact Mark Wahl just called and said he just finished a 3000 square foot inspection and only needed 30 minutes after to finish up the report (took a few hundred photos).
does it come standard with the 1.6 gb? are there any options I need to be asking for?
16  General Discussion / Computer Questions / Re: A New Tablet!! CTL2Go on: February 16, 2010, 07:51:03 AM
Just talked to one of the managers at the company. The CTL2Go actually has a 1.6 ghz processor versus the T91 1.3ghz process which makes it slightly faster for the same price. They are also in stock! I've asked them to mail me a unit to evaluate and they are going to see if they can. I asked to get it asap so I can take it to the conference in Vegas in 2 weeks so you guys can see it.
How did the CTL2go work out Dominic? I'm about to purchase a new computer. Thinking about this unit instead of a tablet or lap top

Dominic, I use the batch load feature,, and save the template every time I make a change I want to keep. I started going back after the report is all completed and remove items from the template that are NA to that particular report. I just don't save the template after that. It helps shorten the report.
Alot of my inspectins are old homes which usually have particular issues. so maybe everything is normal. Just seems like I should be completeing the reports faster.
I'll mess around with the background color. I do not usually print the reports, but my clients and agents do.
Do you think the report is to detailed??

I got an error report Dominic. File was to big. So i'll pass on the attachment.
My question to fellow home inspectors is,,,,How long do you spend putting a report together? I do not currently prepare them on location. I'll go home and put the report together. This will take me up to 2 hours. Longer on old homes. Then i read where inspectors print the report out on location. I'll take up to 80 pics during an inspection. I'll only put 15 - 20 in the report, but I go through all the pics and sort them out.
Where am I going wrong here.
