Well It is kinda normal here in the chicago area to be slow with weather starting to turn and kids going back to school, but I still thought it would be a little better. I should not complain to much though, if I look back at last year this would been a good month . I guess my expectations are higher

General Discussion / General Discussion / Goodbye Old Friend

Hello everyone . Had a tough day yesterday. My trusted beloved family dog Haley of 11years had to be put to sleep. Shewas a great dog a big black Labrador with a heart of gold. She developed a bone tumor in her front leg and when she was walking with my children her leg fractured. We did have some options such as amputation and chemo. But as a family we decided that at her age and her personality we did not want to put her through this. So we made the hard decision to let her go. I know where she is at right now she is loved and she is happy and in good care. I know one day I will see her again and she will be wanting me to scratch her ears or take her for a walk.Until then old friend I will always remember the time we spent with you and how you protected us and loved us and the all goofy things you would do. I want you know that we tried our best to take care of you best we could and we loved you with all of our hearts. Until we meet again. We Love you Haley

Thanks jay and the rest of the guys for all your kind words and help. I know I will be fine. I just wish I didn't get dragged into this oh well . Like I said before lesson learned. I don't think I will be performing home inspections for people who are in the process of getting divorced. I think next time I will politely decline

I can barely remember any of the conversation that I had with her. that is why I have my lawyer there just in case they try something

I was by myself. I was just polite and chatted a little but it was basically about the issues as far as I could recall. I kept it professional. As far as i know they really just want to confirm everything on the report because the report is not a certified court doc. My lawyer will be there just in case

Hi everyone I did an inspection last month for a client who was getting divorced, and she needed a home inspection so she would know the condition of her house. I received a subpoena for deposition from her husbands lawyer. has anybody ever have to go through this?

General Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Low Balling

I agree with you Dom. Even if I didn't have anything planned I don't schedule anything that late. I did try to work with her by even giving her the Sun. option which I don't mind if it is early in the morning but if I was her I would think about this agent she has. I think the low balling is just sometimes out of hand. I know it stinks to have to turn down inspections but I am in this thing for the long run

Hi Guys Just need to blow off a little steam. Get a call today from a woman needing a home inspection done. I quote her a price of $300.00 which is very competitive for this area. She tells me that she had a guy who would do it for $250.00, but he is not available and is there anyway I can come down to $ 250.00. I stood firm and told her I can't do it for 250.00 I asked her when she was looking have this done. She tells me 7:00 pm Fri. I tell her that I am unavailable. I have a birthday dinner planned for my daughter, anyway I do not like schedule inspections this late because of darkness and just the time to start a job. I give her a few more optins of Saturday and even Early Sun. morning. she says she has to call her agent because Fri Night was the only time he was available. Nice guy huh. Srry just fustrated. I don't like to turn down inspections but I think low balling hurts us in the long run. So the agent can't find any other time or just pop by to open the door or give us the code to the lock box. Sounds like to me she should try to find an agent who could work with her more. What do you guys think

I was totally suprised when I went into the attic. well next time when I see like two ground rods on the outside it will give me a heads up. Well I would say that at least the framing will for sure survive a tornado
