When I do a search, I find that I have pretty good rankings through sites and forums that I participate in. The only problem is that it is through their site.
For instance, if you type my city and EIFS inspector into the browser box, different blogs that I have written show up, but it links to me (or the blog) through the forum/site address. This is somewhat ok, but I feel that clients my become disinterested and not look for the link to contact me.
I see that other entities have similar blogs but it links directly to their web site.
How can I start my own blog so that it will link/show my own web site address?

Hi Steven,
It depends on who is hosting your website for you. If you were using our new web hosting server there is a blog built into the site. All you would need to do is click the 'Add Blog' button and you could add a new post. If you're hosting some where else then you will need to see if they have a blogging feature as part of their package. Otherwise you can just start making new pages with posts and link them to a central page on your site. The only down side is you would have an RSS feed to be picked up on.

Wait another week until I've finished a few more of the templates then we can get you setup. I'm still getting feedback from the guys beta testing the program and making improvements.

I tried posting a blog. I'm not absolutely sure if I did it correctly. When I am logged into my site I see "My Blog" in the menu. When I sign out, it is gone. I went into menus in admin and located "my blog" , but it is locked?  ? How do I unlock it so I can enable it and in case I wish i change the name? |

The My Blog link only you see, like My Account. Two things that should be in the admin panel but I've wanted to move but had a hard time due to their integration into the system. Only you can see those links when logged in.
The link you want enabled is called Blogs. You might had disabled it, go back to menus and enable it. You can rename it too.
To see what the user sees, logout.

Done, so now just so I know what I think is going on. The blog I entered will at some point, somewhere, possibly according to relevancy show up in as search in Google or somewhere with my webaddress on it.
The more the merrier , correct? Is it only as valuable as the amount of folks that look at it?

Steven, Your blog serves many roles. 1. The more pages on your site, the more weight is has with Google. They feel a 50 page site is more relevant than a 1 page site (how relevant can a one page site hold right?) 2. Your blog should be filled with your keywords, get in city names, 'home inspector' / 'home inspections', etc. Having more keywords on your page makes your site overall more relevant for those terms. 3. The page itself will show up on Google eventually and can even show high up in the rankings as your sites ranking itself grows. 4. Your blogs broadcast an RSS feed which are picked up by RSS sites that will link back to your site. 5. People read the blogs, find you're an interesting person and hire you. Yup, the more the merrier  |

Dominic - I joined Active Rain and started my own blog. Getting real I guess. http://jaymarkanich.activerain.com/ However, I am linking it with my website's blog page. On the navigation column each of the blog titles are appearing. Eventually this list will get very long. What do I do about that? |

I have a feeling my answer is in #1 from your post above Dominic. Am I correct? |

Yup! You can just add the feed for your own blogs into a block. Look at homeinspectoratlanta.com as Brian had this setup last time I saw his site.
