Dominic,

I wanted to add my site to Google but do not know where to add their meta tag.

<meta name="verify-v1" content="rn3hYUj8BaSwxZWYHI7iiYDoevOxGl0/OSIRIi1HSac=" />

It says it needs to go b/w head and title.  How do I do this on your design software?

Use the other method of verification which is to create a page name on your site. Create Content->Page and in the URL field type in the new name, just don't link it to any menu.

You actually don't want to submit your site to any search engines. You want them to find you because you've exchanged links with other inspectors. It's better for rankings (and faster).

not sure what "don't link it to any menu" means.

When you create a page there's an option to give it a menu title and select the menu the page will appear in. Just leave it blank.

Dominic,

2 questions:

Now that my site has been found by Google, can I add the verification tag or the site map?

Secondly, I also bought www.tylerhomeinspectors (with the "s"), but when I type that into Google my new site doesn't appear (though my original site does).  I've added Tyler Home Inspectors to my meta tags but nothing's happening.

Ideas?

Thanks

Hi Bruce,

Yes, you can add the verification page as described above.

http://www.tylerhomeinspectors.com/ doesn't have anything on it, it's just the normal GoDaddy site. Since there's no content it's not worth listing to Google. Why would typing it into Google make your new site appear? I typed it into Google and nothing came up, but nothing should have as nothing links to it. I'm a bit confused there.

If someone were searching for home inspectors in tyler, they would get on google and type in "tyler home inspectors"...right?

So now, my new website (www.tylerhomeinspector.com) doesn't come up when they type that (my old one, www.thompsonpropertyinspection.com does, but I'm trying to get the new one going).  So...I add Tyler Home InspectorS to my meta tags right?

Hi Bruce,

Ahh I see. Google doesn't care about singular/plural (or puts little weight to it). So inspector/inspector , inspection/inspections won't make a big difference. I just alternate when I'm using the words around my site in the text body, keywords, description, etc. The new site will take lots of link exchanging and a few months to get a good foothold on Google as you have to prove to them your site is worth listing.

Would it make much difference if I had you change my current site to www.tylerhomeinspectors.com?

No, it wouldn't make any difference. All the surveys I've run show that people search for city home inspector just as much as city home inspectors.

OK.  thanks.

I've noticed that though I've gotten up on google, I'm not even on ask.com, msn.com and not much for yahoo or altavista.

submit? or keep waiting?
