Funny how things just seem to happen all at once.  Last week a friend of mine was going on about Twitter. Now, I have heard of it but I had not really been interested in getting involved, but my friend said I should give it a try.  I started an account and then just kicked around looking at what people were doing but not "following" anyone in particular.  After a few days I began to wonder if I could use this to help my business; as I get more inspections I will be at my 9-5 less and thus on my computer less (until I can quit at least!).  I thought that Twitter may be a good way to keep in touch without the laptop always connected (and since I have an iPhone it is really easy to use Twitter on the go).

Then this weekend I get an email from ActiveRain talking about how realtors are using Twitter for their work; what perfect timing! After reading a bunch of posts on the Twitter forum on ActiveRain, I felt I would give it a real try.

Let me know how things go with that. I have an account but haven't looked into it yet.  Haven't had the time yet.  I will soon though.

Hey Dominic, I am assuming that since I put a twitter "window" on my site, and it will get updated with some regularity, that it should help my page ranking correct?  I just figure it is like updating a blog, is it not?

I'll have to take a look (I'm on my cell right now). Is it adding text? Did you add it to your site using javascript or the newsfeed function?

I added it to a block and it appears to be Flash.  Yes, it adds text as well as a link to my twitter page.

It won't help your SEO as search engines don't really read flash. But it can help the look of your site and therefore create a better connection between you and your client. Obviously this is just as important!

Changed the twitter feed to HTML/Javascript.  Will that help the SEO?

Unfortunately most search engines will only see the javascript code and not the actual text that it's displaying. Google's working on this though, eventually they'll be able to read javascript better.

Either way I like the look of the javascript better.
