I am editing a page in the site builder and this comment is below where you enter keywords for the page I am editing which is the about page. The note states avoid duplication of words. Does this mean for this page or for all pages? How many words should. Please feel free to elaborate on keywords and Meta Tags.
Enter a comma separated list of keywords for this page. Avoid duplication of words as this will lower your search engine ranking.

Hi Scott,
Keywords are really avoided my most search engines now so they aren't as important. I would stick with listing 5 keyword phrases like "colorado springs home inspector, pueblo home inspector, etc".
The meta tag for description is the biggie. This is what the search engines end up showing on their page. Here you want something like "Commercial and Home Inspections Performed in Colorado Springs, Puelbo, city 3, city 4, city 5, and all surrounding areas."
That way your description has the words people are searching for included in them.
As far as duplicating goes, try to vary your keywords and description on each page. You might want to include your largest city on every page but you can add some of the smaller cities on some of the other pages.

Hey Dom, I think I have done everything you have said on my site to up the rankings. I still don't find my site when I search for Oklahoma home inspector in Google and I went through about 15 pages before I gave up. I don't spose you can look at it and let me know of the spots I need to improve on, could you?

It will take several week to even a few months before your first appearance on Google. The more links you swap the faster you'll show up. Age of a site is a big factor on Google, otherwise people could abuse the system by throwing up 100 sites manipulating each to find what takes them to the top. Your site is about 2 weeks old now. Have patience young paduan.

John'
OK is a big place! Do you service the entire state? Not for those prices I hope!
Try to narrow things down to your specific area.
"Be confident in your home purchase with HLC Home Inspections. "
You need to change this! It says nothing about you, where you are or what you do.
Look at everyone else in your area and do something different.
I got listed in the top five pages in my 2nd week. Didn't go up too much from there. Made some changes, one week later and I was up to the middle of page 2 on a serach I could not get abouve 14.
Go over Dom's stuff and try other stuff! It works and is worth it!
I don't even have to spell my name right and I show up on most of the first five pages under my name & home inspector. I have only been at this 5 weeks!

My focus is Oklahoma City and the surrounding towns. That is still a very large area and there are many towns. I have been asked if I would go to some of the outer towns and I said I would but I would have to charge for gas.
I'll try and think of some lines!

Dom, in your example above you say ""colorado springs home inspector, pueblo home inspector, etc", but the site software says don't duplicate words...should I be putting home inspector in each time? Can I switch to real estate inspector or property inspector?

My example above should say "Colorado Springs Home Inspector, Pueblo Home Inspections, Home Inspector in Denver" , etc.
You can use property inspector and real estate inspector but they are used a lot less by your clients. Stick to inspections.

Stick to home inspections and commercial inspections, they are used the mass majority of the time.
