I suggest that we have a way to color the text for the Materials and Observations Titles within the report so that those titles stand out in the report and not appear as just the same text in the descriptions, etc.  I also would like to see a way that we can go back into the template edit and drill down to the subs in the menus to make changes.  I have found that I had added some subs and I had misspelled some words.  The only way that I could remedy the misspellings was to delete the sub and re-type carefully.  It would be nice to be able to double click on it and be able to make changes such as spelling.  This would also be a good idea for the main subs.  Editing the names for the tabs, etc. would be nice...a way to get back into the directed sub menu formulation wizard.

Hi Bob,

The ability to edit the panel names within a tab is one of the top 3 things I have to work on right now. I'm setting it up so you can double click on it from the Template Editor and update the items there.

You can already change the name for the tabs, just double click on them in the template editor and you can change them.

Changing the Material & Observation title color is a good idea, I'll add that to the list (about 4 pages of to-do's right now!)

Editing panel names was completed in 2.5.9.

Along with the text color/bold/etc. I suggested in the wish list, I would like to be able to do it in the texting of the selection panels as well.

Both already on the to do list. Creating the larger editing boxes was the first part of the process.

There is one thing about the color choice that needs to be discussed. The way things are right now, you can choose a color for your serious/summary items (usually red). If we allow the color of comments to be changed, then do the items added to red still stay 100% red? What happens if you change some of the color of the item then add it? I haven't had time to really think this all the way through. I'll let you guys toss it around some too and think of what method you think would be best.

In the selection panels that's obviously not as much of a problem. Though even the selection panels have a color set under Report Formatting. Hmm.

Well, I was only interested in the selection panels and leaving the observations alone.  In my template I am using the selection panels for locations, type, etc. and also an abbreviated  Legend. Because of the way the report prints, I wanted to be able to separate the legend from the others by coloring the text of the others while leaving the legend color black.  I do  not think that the report selections option will allow me to change some of the text...I believe it will only change all of the text colors in the selection panels.  Correct me if i am wrong with this.  As it is, I am using a series of dashes to separate items in the selection panels  (hmmm, another neat idea, the ability to add horizontal lines within the selection panels as separators).

I've seen quite a few guys uses dashes as separators. We could add a real horizontal line, I'd have to look into that.

You are correct with the selection panels, you change all of their colors to the same. I'll be looking into changing that though. My main focus right now though is getting the new filmstrip feature going, adding progress bars to the report upload and integrating credit card payments into the report hosting. All in time. Thanks for the great ideas. Hopefully other guys will continue to discuss these.

Here is another:  It would be nice to have a selection under the file header to start a new report with a new client.  In this way, one would not have to close out of the program and then reopen to start a new inspection.  I am one of those guys who just leaves the program open all of the time and just wants to start a new inspection on the fly.

We've considered this a few times in the past. Because so many guys are still using old 1 ghz tablets we've left the feature out. I'm not sure on the Mac end, but on Windows, when a program uses up ram it can never give it back to the system to use until the program is closed. Because of this the longer you use a program, the more memory that will be used (in general). Because of this we'd rather guys close the program out and restart it to start on a new inspection. That way they are releasing all the resources back to the system.

We've actually made a lot of improvements over the last 6 months that have heavily optimized the usage of the program. It uses up about 1/5 the ram that it used to, especially when importing massive amounts of photos. Because of this, it might be something to look into again. Basically starting a new job would just be opening a new template and clearing out the photos. I'll add it to the list of items to check out.

New suggestion??

I use the circles in photo edit quite a bit but would like to have ovals as well.
Is there a way to make the circles so one can change it to an oval like I do in other programs such as whisper image edit lite?

We could add ovals in. Out of curiosity, how does an oval help more than a circle or rectangle?

Personal preference but I suppose, but I think it looks better on certain types of photos.

Try that whisper lite (free) link I posted and see if you agree.

I often use the lines for strange shapes ,and the rectangles are good for the oval shape.

Hmm, it's not too bad. You actually can't draw a perfect circle with that tool (that I saw at least) other than the default size. We could add something similar though, I've added it to the list. I definitely like how our circles and arrows draw a lot better. I think it's much simpler.

If you mean Whisper you can draw a circle of any size by mousing the corners and dragging.

The sides make the ovals.

Hmm, I tried the corners and it still skewed it if I moved the mouse to the side too much. I'll try it again.

It's always interesting to figure out the best logic when working with images. Like the new method we have of drawing circles is much easier to use than the previous which was a pain.

I tried it again too. Grabbing the corner in Whisper gives you control of X and Y axis. You have to eyeball the perfect circle.
