Dom, I'm tired of trying to use Micreosoft Access on this Vista software. I want to know if Open Office can open up my existing files from XP.
As you know I'm a bit of a hacker when it comes to some operations so if it will work along with all of the other tools, Word, Excell,  etc., I'll try to learn the software. If not I have to down load Microsoft Office 2007 and add the Access option.
I was thinking of adding XP to my D drive in Vista. The thing is I don't use Access a whole lot, just for some outside orginzations that use Access database.

Hey Dan,

OpenOffice will open all Microsoft Office docs, spreadsheets, even power point and access files. It will also open WordPerfect and about 40 other formats. The only thing it won't open right now is MS Office 2007 docs but that should be in the next release.

Will this program replace MS Office? And will others that don't have this installed be able to open them with MS Office?

Thanks,
Rob

The program has replaced MS Office in many universities and several state goverments. You can save files as a word doc, xls, or ppt so that people using MS Office can open them. You can also save directly to PDF format (without an additional program like you need with MS Office).

Thanks Dominic.  I will give it a try.  I am also checking out Comodo as a firewall alternative.  I have been using AVG for a few years now and do like it.

It has some nice reviews and it's free which is always a good thing.
